Re: Low quality v-carve

I’m going to redo this one with slower feed and the carve-shellac-carve technique. That should help. Ultimately you will need to decide if your process would be better with different material. For a natural wood appearance hard maple cuts clean and holds fine details If you are painting then a high...

Re: Making Guitar Neck with Vcarve Pro

You cannot create a guitar neck in VCarve, but you can import an STL file created in another program and use VCarve to generate the toolpath files to cut it on your machine. Use your favorite search engine to search for guitar neck STL Another option is to get a scan done of a neck you have already ...

Re: Sandpaper grits...now the same on the pond:)

Update on the compressor: It is covered under warranty. A replacement unit is on its way. Since the garage is attached to the house I'm still seriously considering getting a California Air 60040CAD since it is 20 DB quieter and has twice the tank size -- 60 gallon vs 30.

Re: Question on cutting connected letters

My approach was similar to Johns. Enter "1 2" in a text box Draw a rectangle that overlaps the 1 and the 2. Convert the text to vectors. Copy everything to a new layer. Use the scissors tool to trim away the text and rectangle vector so you are left with the connector that follows the shape of the t...

Re: Wacky Tool Path

Here is an example of the problem, and how I handle it. I have a design where you will notice the toolpath preview shows the finish tool path occasionally dropping off the edge. Screen Shot 2020-06-29 at 2.33.20 PM.png Normally I use a boundary vector, and my boundary offset is slightly over 1/2 of ...

Re: design and make models

In the new computer you can re-download them from the design and make site.
Alternately, copy them to a thumb drive from the old computer. Plug it into the new computer and copy.

Re: Surfacing

Create a project with the same dimensions as your table.
Draw a rectangle the same dimensions as your table
With the rectangle selected select a pocket toolpath using your surfacing bit as the tool. Use a depth of 0.001" or 0.010" as appropriate for your setup.
Save the toolpath.
Run the toolpath.

That's why I use NotePad++ to edit ALL my text files
I am another satisfied Notepad++ user.

For programming I use Sublime Text because it runs on both Windows and Mac.
