Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
I could be totally wrong here since I have never used VCarve, but I think from what I have read here, STL files can be loaded into VCarve. I am sure someone will be happy to correct me if I am wrong. You are correct Sir. Previously I have only used 3D models from the D&M clipart library which obvio...

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
It is NOT two dishes intersecting. Sorta looks that way, but when observed carefully, this is what it is: c2.PNG This model is an example of going off half cocked, rushing to a "solution" in an effort to "help". I did not do this in Aspire. However, the interior of the dish can be easily modeled in...

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
Thanks to all for allocating so much time and so many grey cells to this problem, I never envisaged that it would turn in to such an epic. This did come from Etsy or Pintrest, though I just looked at the image so missed the part about it being hand carved. The above representations are very closed t...

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
Well, the above discussion has definitely cheered me up. If all the Vectric experts on here are scratching their heads with this then I feel a lot better. I am still trying to achieve the original design as I think it has "class". I have produced many interesting shapes since posting the question bu...

Re: Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
Great. Thank you all, that was the answer that I was hoping for. I have both the time and the patience. It took me a LONG, long time to get my V-carve inlay perfect, many trials and errors (and lots of note taking). I have had my machine for 3 years so not quite "new", I have been lurking here for a...

Can this be replicated in V-carve pro?
I have spent more than a few hours trying to design the cuts for the image below in V-carve Pro. I have tried modelling toolpaths, 3D (D&M) domes & dishes and combinations of the two. I have been working on the right hand bowl and have only managed to reproduce either the right hand contour or the l...

Re: Cnc and pattern making for metal casting
One of the best things about metal casting is that if the casting does not come up to standard for some reason, there is no waste, unlike things cut on the cnc which often are not salvageable (other than the wood burner!), casting failures go back in the melting pot, whether it is bronze, brass or a...

Re: Cnc and pattern making for metal casting
No, that is a common misconception, the pattern is cut as you want the design to turn out, mahogany is the preferred wood to cut though others will do, depending on how detailed the design is. The reverse image is what you create in the sand using the pattern. If you require multiple copies of a met...

Cnc and pattern making for metal casting
I didn't buy my cnc machine with the intention of it helping out with one of my other hobbies, casting bronze, brass and aluminium, but it has been a huge bonus. The latest casting and pattern are shown below. This used a D&M 3D shallow dome design with the image and text projected on to it. This is...

Re: Clipart image hard to find on D&M
Thanks Todd,
I only have V-carve pro so I will have to wait until I upgrade to Aspire. That could be a while though, not due to the cost, I just need to learn more about the software I have before I give the grey cells even more to contemplate!

Clipart image hard to find on D&M
I have been trying to find the D&M clipart image for the "footprints in the sand" seen on the V11 advertising image at the attachment.
If it is available as clip art on D&M it is hidden well!
If someone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
