Re: Salt please

Thank you for posting these informative links. I don't think that I will try cutters of any sort on these "gritty" glue joints. It seems like this would increase wear on cutting bits. Also, salt can be corrosive on metal surfaces. I'll stick with a little less glue, and deal with joint movement by u...

Re: Beki's Beer Caddy Revisited

Excellent question! In order to secure the panel properly, I wanted to place two clamps near the center. The two rectangles mark the exact places where those two clamps needed to be placed without being hit by the bit. (This is also why I use wooden clamps.) So the marks are only for layout, not for...

Re: Beki's Beer Caddy Revisited

Be sure to report back. I'd like to see how it turns out. Just be sure to adjust the file as needed for the thickness of your material.

Re: Beki's Beer Caddy Revisited

I showed this Desk Organizer at the last Zoom meeting of our CNC Group: Since there was interest in having copies of the file shared, I am posting it here. This idea will continue to evolve as I use it with our students. I would be real curious to see your versions too. I hope you have some fun with...

Re: Odd Oval Shape

A few months ago, Todd demonstrated a BBQ cutting board design. https://www.vectric.com/vectric-community/free-projects/tips-and-tricks/TheBBQBoard Toward the end of the video he showed how he tilted a drain channel by using a zero plane that was tilted then vectors were projected onto that 3D surfa...

CarveOne,
I would like to see the fixture you made. It's always an education to see how others solve problems.
Thank you,

Re: Vcarve of text is shifting upwards

One more question: After having the letters shift up, will your machine return to the same X Y Z zero position where you started? If not, you're probably running into a mechanical problem. Check all connections. And, be sure to try jogging your bit to all limits of travel. Make sure that you know wh...

Thank you Michael and Adrian. This has been a minor annoyance for me. I never knew it could be set differently.
And, Thank you Kurt for asking the question.

Re: Beki's Beer Caddy Revisited

Thanks, a few years working with enthusiastic young students has taught me that assembly lesson...
And, if they put things together in the wrong order, it is easy to dis-assemble, then re-assemble.

Beki's Beer Caddy Revisited

Since retirement, I have been building projects with a group of home schooled students. I have always enjoyed the enthusiasm of having a dozed children in my back yard pounding nails! Because we are doing this on Zoom now, I need to find projects that use a minimal number of tools. These projects al...

Re: Vcarve of text is shifting upwards

Are you cutting real close to the limits of your table's work area?
You could be losing steps by hitting the limits of travel. This could shift the position of letters.
