Re: Issue adding a new material to the Toolpath Preview
Here's what (I think) I know. It was saved as a .jpg, not .JPG. File size was around 7.5 MB. I quartered it, and it worked. I have 16 GB of RAM on the system (windows 10 Pro 64 bit), and only Aspire was open.. Not even a web browser. I closed and restarted Aspire, and I even rebooted the computer. W...

Re: Issue adding a new material to the Toolpath Preview
Thanks Michael...
I resampled the image to a lower file size, and it worked. So It was me... me not knowing (or remembering) there is a file size limit for materials. It was at 7.5-ish MB, and I resized it to just under 2, which seems to be the reason it worked.

Issue adding a new material to the Toolpath Preview
Aspire V 10.515. Windows 10 Pro 64, updated. I've added a .jpg of a type of wood to my Bitmap Textures. I've done it dozens of times before, but can't get it to work today. I can actually get it into the folder, and it does show in the list of materials in the Toolpath setup window, but it will not ...

Re: Which new video/graphics card?
I do 99.44% of my vector work in Flexi, and then export/import into Vectric for the CAM portion of the project. ...just because I'm used to Flexi, not because Vectric's vector stuff isn't good. I don't use a lot pf prints, and don't have a printer, so I use Signs 365 for prints when I need them. I'v...

Re: Which new video/graphics card?
Thanks Joe and Adrian. I thought Vectric software wasn't card dependent, but couldn't remember. I have an Intel i7-4790K 4GHz, and 16 GB RAM. I can go up to 32GB, so maybe that wouldn't hurt

Which new video/graphics card?
I'm 99.44% sure my video card is failing. So, time for a new one. What have you had luck with? I'm running Flexi 11, and Vectric Aspire. Something under $200 would be great.

Re: Wood for boat sign recommendations
I'll throw this into the mix for something to think about. Boats get dinged up. Especially a tug boat. If I had to choose between white oak and HDU, I'd go with the white oak because it's a much stronger material. Even 30# HDU won't resist dents and dings very well.

Add me to the "too bright & hard to read" group. Other than that, the other changes seem to be good.

Re: Microsoft ends support for Windows 7
I have all of my computers that go online updated to Windows 10. 5 of the 6 were updated for free. The 6th, which I just did a couple weeks ago, wasn't eligible for the free update, so I went-a-Googlin', and found a legit online Windows 10 key seller. I paid around $40, and Microsoft verified the ke...

Re: Toolpaths are duplicating work?
I'll take a stab at it. Use an inside profile path for the 1/16" tool instead of a pocket path.

Re: Raised letters for outdoor sign
These days, I use Kilz Premium waterborne primer. I usually go over that with high end "latex" house paint. If I need to fill a hole, I use whatever outdoor rated filler I have at the time. I don't offer a glass smooth finish on HDU, so the Kilz Premium & house paint work great for me. Technically, ...

Re: Raised letters for outdoor sign
Sounds like a perfect job for HDU. It's easy to paint, it holds paint well, it doesn't expand & contract too much with temperature changes, it'll hold up to sun and weather after the customer does a bad job of painting the first time, then never paints them again. In my 25 years of sign making, I've...

Re: WinCNC, UCCNC or Centroid Acorn
On the other hand... My current control system works, so maybe my speedy gantry build should be bumped up to the first project. Here's a few Estes Park tips. Stay out of Elk charging range. There's a couple times per year that they're grumpy, and will attack. You can Google for the most recent event...
