Replacing an encoder on vmc 3020
Does anyone know whether I can use an accu coder to replace the encoder on my vmc 3020? This is the encoder on the top of the spindle motor. The part number is OE5043 but there are conflicting info online about this part number. Fadal & others (ABB, Radwell, etc.) seems to want to charge close to $1...

EMC/EMI filter question
Does an EMC/EMI filter like https://www.valinonline.com/products/508-110 go before the VFD or after the VFD on the cable that goes to the spindle? Also, if I use a filter on the output side of the VFD, would this protect both the VFD and the motor?

Buck Boost Transformer 380V 240V 3Phase
I have a machine that I built for the US. It has a couple of SEW Eurodrive helical gearmotors https://files.clrwtr.com/userfiles/ct/documents/sew-eurodrive/sew-eurodrive-k-series-gearmotors.pdf and Lenze SMV VFD 240V three phase https://www.clrwtr.com/Products/ESV402N02TXB . I have to build another ...

Re: New controller for 5hp 230V Colombo Spindle?
It turns out the controller I have can take either single phase or 3 phase. That's a big relief. I didn't want to spend money on a new controller. I'm a little unhappy that the spindle vendor used a lower horse power controller on a 5hp spindle. My assumption was that the controller would be 5hp as ...

New controller for 5hp 230V Colombo Spindle?
I used to power 5hp 230V Colombo Spindle with 230V 3 phase, but I am running out of a residential garage now, so the AC Tech controller will not work. I assume I will need another controller. I am not sure about 230v single and 3 phase, although from what I have read the 230v available in a residenc...

What Do I Need For My 5hp 230V Spindle?
I used to power it with 230V 3 phase, but I am running out of a residential garage now, so the static controller will not work. I assume I will need another controller. I am not sure about 230v single and 3 phase, although from what I have read the 230v available in a residence will be single phase....

Re: Automation Technologies VFD
I haven't heard about E500 Sunfar until I read your post. I wouldn't buy a Chinese made VFD on eBay or any place since they seem to be very unreliable. VFD market has matured during the last 4-5 years. There are lot of good USA made choices at reasonable pricing out there. For an example, take a loo...

I'd also recommend a line reactor. Take a look at Trans-Coil (TCI). I have used them with my ABB drives.

Re: Spindle Question
I have not worked with DZB200 drives.
I've done something similar with a FUJI FRENIC MEGA drives. Check out Fuji's manual.

Re: Spindle Choice - VFD or Sherline?
My choice would be a VFD because of all the different options/functions. I currently have a Hitachi drive.

Re: CNC router Ideal Spec.
What servo motors do you recommend for a router? I've been looking at panasonic a series. They seem to have lot more features than what I need, but I've heard lot of good things about panasonic servos. Any input?

Re: Anyone ever buy from www.homeshopcnc.com ?
I'd go with a more reputable manufacturers' vfd than cheap chinese brands. You may save few bucks in the beginning but would lose a whole lot in the end. http://www.ctiautomation.net/Hitachi-VFD-Drives.htm http://www.actech.com/cgi-bin/site.pl?product http://www.yaskawa.com/site/products.nsf/product...
