Bird House for Spring

Made a bird house based on Michael Tyler’s video. A few changes. Used Dominos to fasten the sides together. Also made the roof removable by adding magnet to the roof and rafters to allow for easy cleaning.

Re: Some Issues with wood

I’ve had better success cutting the vcarve first then the pocket but also cut both the vcarve and pocket in three separate tool paths each. Moving the depth down slightly with each pass. There is a good YouTube video by Stephan Forseilles that describes this process in detail. I also found that usin...

Re: VCarve Initials on dish

After searching the VCarve manual I found the answer. When carving onto a 3D model, the carve will start at the depth set in the "Model Position in Material" in the Material Setup of the toolpath tab. I did not have the "gap above model" at Zero, in fact it was at .28" so that is why the carve was s...

VCarve Initials on dish

Trying to VCarve initials (MHB) on the bottom of the dish of the ashtray. Picture attached. The problem is that even with setting the flat depth to 0.1" and also tried 0.01" but the carve goes 0.29" below the surface of the dish. Way too deep since it distorts the letters then. Just want a shallow c...

Re: Oramask 813

Trying to get the right method for using the Oramask 813. I was using in Baltic birch plywood. Sanded wood with 320 grit, wiped with alcohol, sprayed with Rust-Oleum filler primer and allowed to dry overnight, sanded lightly, wiped with alcohol and spayed with Rust-Oleum Ultra Matte white paint. All...

You could also try to convert the text to curves then snip.

Re: V-Carving Clearance Issues

My experience is what you see on the screen is what you will see on the machine. If the preview is not what you want, I wouldn’t carve it yet

Texture Around Raised Objects

Carving a sign for a beach house using V Carve 10.512. Used the texture tool to create a texture. Selected the vectors around the objects I did not want a texture applied to and hit OK. In the picture you can see the wave vectors that I want to carve in the recess of the sign look like they will jus...
