Re: Thanks for the help, but new question

Thanks guys! I'm stil playing with my rotary axis. I have an AVID pro NEMA 34 so I might just play with it. I just figured it would be more accurate trying this on the 4th axis than trying to cut three sides and re-reference the workpiece and keep it aligned accurately. My project is to repair an an...

Thanks for the help, but new question

Has anyone tried to carve any design into a square versus round workpiece? My thoughts are that if I carve a three sided piece such as a corbel that is lets say, 3 inches square, do I have to start with a much larger piece and unwrap the piece and insert the design? Maybe I am thinking about trying ...

Re: Question please

Thank you so much! I'm learning about the 4th axis and without you guys who are willing to share your knowledge, I'd be up the creek!

I do have a 4 jaw chuck and a block would probably be the best option. I'm going to go out and give it a try in the morning.

Once again, thank you very much!

Re: Question please

PS - This also helps me determine how long the original piece of material needs to be versus the finished piece. I know this is probably elementary, but I am simply trying to figure it out without damage to the machine or bit. Thanks,

Question please

I have a brand new Avid CNC rotary axis on my Pro 4896 machine. I have yet to cut anything but have everything aligned and ready. My question, if I have a piece of material 4x4x16 inches long and some of it goes into the chuck to hold it. What are the cutting dimensions of something like that? I kno...

Hi Mike, I believe the cancellation of the in-person UG is due to the current and future wildly unpredictable UK travel restrictions (or any other province, state or country’s either). I can't wait ti tell my wife that we threw away $600 in aitfare.
I'm out $800 and it is not refundable. I can use the funds in the next 12-months so I guess we're going to the mountains for Christmas! Snow? What's snow? We live on the Gulf Coast!

Re: 2021 User Group Meeting - San Diego

I'm bailing too. I've already paid for airplane for me and my wife, so your postponement will cost me $200-300 more to go if everything else is even. This certainly isn't worth it so I am going to bail out and request a refund. This is what happens when you hold something in such a nutty place as Ca...

Re: Need your help please!

It's not Vectric, it is a bug in Mach 4. I contacted AvidCNC and we changed the settings on Mach 4 (drifts upward on z-axis) and we changed the settings on Mach 4. So far, so good. It is working properly without at z-axis issue.

Re: Need your help please!

Thank you! I'm new so it is challenging for me. I think that the best option is, since the machine is new, I need to check the tightness of the supporting stands, etc. since it could have loosened with some of the breakin or use. Thanks.

I know you guys are probably tired of me asking dumb questions, but dumb questions are how I learn. I've been playing with my Aspire and AvidCNC because doing things allow me to learn. But I am stumped for now. I made a 3-D carving from two models that I got somewhere on the internet. I've made my p...
