Re: Trouble cutting Corian?
Use your 3mm cutter but program the job with a 3.2mm cutter this will give you an over size part. Then do another pass with a programmed 3.0mm cutter. The idea is to leave enough on for a final light finishing cut. Tools can flex but the marchant dice machines are on unsupported rails and they can a...

Re: New Threads gadget available for Aspire 4 and VCP7
Another trick is to use a tap with all the flutes except one ground off. This will then do any thread at that pitch provided it will fit in the hole. Another trick for larger holes is to use a thread insert out of a Coventry Die head or similar. http://www.stevenson-engineers.co.uk/files/threadmill....

Re: Strange toolpath order
Thanks for all your effort. Don't you agree that this is the "shortest path"? I don't understand why the software can't do this automatically without all the manual input. Maybe next version... Cheers! Possibly because it's a starter program sold at a budget cost ? I have a few CAD/CAM programs and...

OK, thanks for that but still not got a DVD, I did send Mark an email last week about this in case I'd been forgotten.
We site is way out of date though at 3.512.

Been sent a file from a customer and it won't open in V4.004
It says it was created in 4.012.
Opened up help and updates but says i have the latest program ?
Then went onto the web site and looked for upgrades but the web sites says 3.504 is the current release ?
What gives ?

Re: Avoiding clamps
Closest I have come to this is to secure with double sided tape but as extra security fit clamps made from 5mm ply and cut thru the clamps starting and finishing on a clamp.

Re: Why so many safety retracts?
Tony is showing you the screen shot from VCarve Pro NOT Cut2D which as your screenshot shows, you only have the one box. Long sort is there is no easy answer to this. If you keep the Z clearance hight to a minimum it will help but watch out for clamps. Cut 2D after all is just a cheap entry level so...

Cut 2D doesn't support ATC's
You cannot have different tools in the same file, it will refuse to process them.
If you have a part that requires say 3 different tools they you will need to run 3 separate programs with a manual tool change between.

Seen this problem many many times and it's always the machine.
You need to check for backlash in the screws, nuts etc, something is loose

Re: Creating a path profile for laser cnc using cut2d
I also use either VCarve pro or Cut2D to work a laser cutter, they both do the same.
You program the part, I use a dedicated tool set to 0.010" for the offsets of the beam and select all the drawing, then export to DXF.
My laser software will read the dxf with no problem.

Re: Picture Frame
OK I'll take a stab at it assuming I can read what you want. Only select the 8" square, tell it to Profile Toolpath, select inside and tell it 1/2" deep. This should remove just the centre. Then to make the shape draw a box say 9" square [ guessing sizes here ] select both the 9" box and the 8" box,...

Replace all the stepper motor cables with shielded cable and shield just one end to the machine ground.
Best to do the control box end, leave the motor end disconnected.

In Material setup, top left Icon on the machining page, set clearance Z1 to 1.5" and plunge Z2 to say 0.1" and try that.
