Re: Offset vector nodes

Thank you all for the suggestions. As the 1.2mm wide offset is being used for an end grain inlay any change in the shape of the offset vector may result in a poor fit or may not fit at all. I will do some further testing before the real project. Thanks You can use the Curve Fit tool with a toleranc...

Re: Imperial measures bits used in metric settings in VCarve?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying but why set a bit to a measurement other than what it is? The software handles it without issues so there's no need to set a 6mm bit as 0.236" or a 1/4" bit as 6.35mm.

Re: Keyboard shortcuts

The Measure tool is Ctrl-M, the join/close tools don't have a short cut key (J brings up the Join tool but that works differently to the other three) but you can access those three tools by using the right click menu which is quicker than going to the drawing pane. One often overlooked key is the sp...

It's one of the tabs the same as Drawing, Modeling and Layers. Depending on your setup the list of tabs is on the bottom of the left hand pane or the left hand side of the left hand pane.

Re: Flower leaf rosette

There are quite a few similar models on the Design and Make store. Perhaps one of those will do the job.

Re: Custom bit icon?

You can't do that in the software currently. Have you looked at the full features of the name format in the database? There is a big list of variables that you can include in the automatic naming all the tools you create. As I said in my previous post that's what I do and I find it more useful than ...

Re: Hole within a vector shape?

Is the shape that adze_cnc posted what you're after? You said 2D so I'm assuming a model isn't what you're after? If it is the only way to cut that with one vector is to create two toolpaths and use a big allowance offset on one to create the inner cut. Not sure why you would want to do that hence t...

It was the 2015 UGM. Typically I have every UGM from 2009 to now apart from 2015.

There are a couple of posts where James posted links but they are no longer valid.

Re: Hole within a vector shape?

Not sure I understand the issue but it sounds like, for some reason, you don't want the inner circle cut out using a profile toolpath. Your other option is to use a pocket toolpath to mill all the material for the hole away. Bit more information would be useful as to exactly what is you want to do a...

Re: Custom bit icon?

I initially took the question to be about changing the picture itself rather than creating a custom tool. Here's a tutorial on creating form tools if that is what you're after. If you want to change the picture so a 1" 120 degree v-bit looks like that rather than a 1/2" 90 degree then that would be ...

Re: Hitting Upper Z Limit Switch

Check what the Z gap above Material is set to. It's on the same form as the Safe Z at the bottom. The machine will move to that position at the start and end of each job. If your machine has, for example, 2" of travel, you have a 1" piece of material to cut and the gap is set to 1.5" then you're goi...

Re: Custom bit icon?

Only by creating form tools. Personally I don't see the need as the description field has some very powerful naming features and that's what I use and look at when selecting a tool. It's best to email change requests to Vectric so they can keep track of them and if enough people want the same thing ...

Re: Can't figure out what's wrong, no toolpath generated

Errors like that which are resolved by Curve Fit are generally small loops or crossovers in the vectors that you can only see by zooming right in.

If you get an error like that again use the Vector Validator tool first to check for problems.
