Re: Aspire Tutorials... Just where are they?

You can access the tutorials directly from the Help (Video Tutorial Browser) in Aspire. As Vic says there is an install and download button below each video. The install button will automatically launch and install the videos whereas the download will download the installer file so it can be copied ...

Re: I must be missing a setting in this Inlay process

Would doing a separate toolpath with my settings at 0.0 and a flat depth of 0.18 work? Then I'd have the second toolpath set at 0.18 to 0.2 to make my original cut? Use the gadget referred to earlier in the thread or if you want to do it manually read this - https://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Can you control the toolpath route?

It depends on how the post processor is written but in general the job will start with the machine moving to the Home XY position as defined in Material Setup on the toolpath tab. It will move to the Z position dictated to by the Z Gap above Material setting at the same time. From there it will move...

Re: Cutting area for Cut2D Desktop?

Cut2D Desktop has a 24" x 24" limit but it won't let you generate toolpaths that exceed that limit so that's not your problem.

Have you cut with the machine before? Has it been calibrated?

Re: Using Nesting option with multiple toolpaths

You're doing something wrong but I don't know what from your description other than you're not selecting the vectors properly when moving them to layers.

Have a look at the attached example file and see if that makes things clearer for you.

Re: Downloading Clipart

I have been having the same problem with 3d tabs for the last few weeks. I've tried to download tabs via the portal, with no success. Have communicated this problem to support, but they just give me the same steps as I have already tried. Hopefully there will be a correction for it soon. Just with ...

Re: Where does a ramp start?

The ramp starts at the surface of the material which is z-zero in this case. You haven't specified a start depth in the toolpath so all cutting operations (including the ramp) will start at the surface. It will start at 0 and ramp down to 0.125 over 4". If the part is smaller than 4" then the toolpa...

Re: Finishing tool path

With a multi tool toolpath it will cut what might appear to be "randomly" as the toolpath is only cutting the parts relevant to that tool rather than the whole piece as it would with a single tool. It does sound as though you weren't expecting there to be a clearing toolpath though so perhaps you ha...

Re: Calculate to 3d screen

Thank you for the help Steve. That works. Is there a way that we can calculate and just go back out to the 2D screen? Going to the 3D screen is not preferred, but at least it took you out of the screen where you were calculating. So this way we can hit calculate and go right into the next toolpath ...

Re: Using Nesting option with multiple toolpaths

Use automatic toolpath association with layers. For each toolpath create a layer. Now put the vectors onto the relevant toolpath layer. In the toolpaths go to the bottom of the form and where it says Vector Selection click on the Selector button. Check associate with toolpath and select the relevant...

Adrian: attached is the Illustrator DXF/DWG export dialog.

Looks like selecting mm in that export so 1 unit = 1 mm should sort it.

Re: Dxf scale import issue

Yes, it's sounds like Illustrator is outputting the file as inches. If there's no option to change it then I guess it's hard coded in their export. I changed the value of INSUNITS to metric (4) in the file and it imported correctly so it's definitely the issue. EPS, as you're using now, is the bette...

Re: Dxf scale import issue

I'm assuming the skull is meant to be around 335mm tall? One change that I can remember reading about with V11 compared to V10.5 with DXF imports is that they are no longer unitless. Before V11 a file that was 335 tall would be 335" in an imperial job and 335mm in a metric job. According to the valu...
