Re: Inlay Pocket Clearing Problem

Looking at it in a bit more detail those islands correspond with the areas that the "V-Carve 1 [Clear 2]" toolpath should be cutting. It almost looks as though that toolpath hasn't been run at all. Personally I would just delete that tool entirely and recalculate as it's not really needed. Just run ...

Re: Inlay Pocket Clearing Problem

I think there is something else going on here other than stepover. The islands left at the top left and right of the triangle in the photo, for example, don't correspond with areas that the v-bit machines. The bottom does but the nub is nowhere near as big as the picture. There are quite pronounced ...

Re: Microsoft Windows 11. Does the Vectric software run correctly on it?

It's not so much the motherboard rather than the processor architecture for me My i7-6700 processor isn't supported by Windows 11. My motherboard can support supported CPU's. This is the first new version of Windows I haven't run straight away since when Windows was first released. The new features ...

Re: 1piece raised panel mdf doors using form bits

Dealguy11 (Steve) is the main man for these especially if you're doing a lot of different sizes from the same basic design.

There is a good thread here - viewtopic.php?t=38240 - and there are a fair few others on the forum on the same subject.

Re: Dogbone Issue

Should have made it clear that it's a dogbone fillet you can't place in those circumstances before someone picks up on it. You can add some other types of fillet but then trying to replace those with another type leads to it's own issues....

Re: Dogbone Issue

The long part of that shape is a single arc. You can't place a fillet where an arc directly joins onto a corner like that. You'll need to go into node edit mode, insert a node and change the new span to a line. How far down that node needs to be depends on how big the dogbone is. Or you could use th...

Re: Vcarve Manual

One thing I forgot to mention is that if the idea of creating a PDF manual is to have offline access to the Help then it already works that way. If you access the Help without an internet connection then the local version of the Help is used rather than the online version.

Re: Vcarve Manual

Never said it was a good idea. :D  :)

Personally I would never print it out as the interactive help is far superior to any printed manual in my opinion and has the advantage of being automatically updated as the software is updated and/or when errors are found in the documentation.

Re: Vcarve Manual

There isn't a VCarve manual. The "manual" is the interactive Help Contents on the Help menu. You can make a PDF of it by clicking Single Page at the top and then printing from your browser (Ctrl-P is the usual shortcut) and choosing Microsoft Print to PDF as your printer. Be warned that it's nearly ...

Re: Creating a modeling surface from point cloud data

Other than the gadget in Aspire, I don't know where to find Pauls CSV to 3D gadget. Here are Pauls gadgets - https://paulrowntree.weebly.com/gadgets.html He hasn't updated them in a long time so many that require a tool to be selected don't work with the latest versions. One thing I had forgotten i...

Re: Multiple tools for 2D Profile Toolpath?

It's possible. There's just no one-click way of doing it. You'll have to create the vectors, setup two toolpaths . Getting a smooth finish with no stepping could be difficult given the different pass depths and possible bit deflection with a bit that small.

Re: Multiple tools for 2D Profile Toolpath?

Why would you want to do that? I can't think of a circumstance where it would be needed so it would seem strange to me if it was there rather than not.

Re: Creating a modeling surface from point cloud data

The Regular Grid Importer gadget can 100% create a model from a point cloud file but as I said in the other thread it depends on the format of the point cloud file. Agreed. I have not yet been sucessful. It seems there are perhaps hundreds of formats. The Regular Grid Importer supports 4 What forma...

Re: Noob graphics question

Agreed, and that's why my initial question regarding importing vectors. I can import a file, but I haven't yet figured out how to move from that step. Not sure what mean by "manipulating the image". That implies a bitmap rather than a set of vectors. If you want to change the imported vectors then ...

Re: Noob graphics question

[ If you have to have a single line and you want to do it as automatically as possible then you need use a centreline trace program as that is something VCarve can't do. Which might work, except Vcarve would still only do a trace. I'm guessing I have to better understand the "import vector" functio...
