Re: How do I nest faster

Experiment with the degrees. That's what makes the biggest difference. That job takes about 3 minutes for me with your settings as well but 1m 15s with 3 degrees and 45 seconds with 5 degrees. There is little difference in the material used especially with shapes like that. I do nests like that seve...

Re: User manual

You don't need an internet connection to use the Help. If an internet connection is available then it uses the latest copy of the Help on the Vectric servers. If there is not one available then it uses the copy of the Help that is installed when you install VCarve to start with. When you click on th...

Re: How do I nest faster

What settings are you using? Things like rotation angle have a huge effect. I tend to use 3 degrees as that is far, far faster than 1 degree. The flip and inside options can have a big effect too. Which version of VCarve are you running? There have been some changes to nesting in recent versions. 10...

Re: User manual

Just to clarify as there is a lot of "noise" in that thread the manual is essentially the Help Contents on the Help menu. If you click on the Single Page link at the top of the Help page when it loads into your browser you can then use the browser controls to print out the whole thing to either a pr...

Re: upgrades

Downloaded clipart is stored in a separate location (Public Documents\Vectric Files\Clipart and Public Documents\Vectric Files\Design&Make) that isn't affected by uninstalling the program itself even if it's bonus clipart that comes with the program.

Re: upgrades

Check what settings you have at the top of the Save Toolpath form. If it's set to Selected Toolpath then it will do what you're seeing. "Visible Toolpaths to one file" (the middle one) is the equivalent to the "Output all visible toolpaths to one file" from previous versions. Make sure you have each...

Re: post processer location

The default ShopBot processors are in a separate sub folder underneath PostP and need to be moved up a level but if you've migrated each time it should be there anyway. If you go to Open Application Data Folder on the file menu it will open the area where you can see the PostP folder and the My_Post...

Re: Gadgets

What would you need it to do? Flattening is really simple to do with just a pocket toolpath so it's hard to see what advantage a specialist gadget would give.

Cut2D Desktop doesn't support gadgets so you would need to upgrade to a Pro version of Cut2D or VCarve or Aspire to use a gadget.

Re: upgrades

If you only want the latest version on your computer then you would need to uninstall all the versions before that one. There isn't a merging process as the latest version can always open older files so it's a matter of removing the old versions. Depending on which version of Windows you're running ...

Re: Rotate project and Flipping status changing

I think he is referring to a Rotary job. The Flip Design check box under Orientation always seems to stay set no matter what the previous setting was unlike other settings on the Job Setup.

Re: Box creator allowance and tabs

Depends on the material, size of the bit and how "tight" your machine is (plus a few other factors). Basically, as with a lot of this type of work, it's a matter of experimenting and then keeping notes of what works for that combination.

Re: Thread Milling - I can't get it working

Is it definitely a 1mm pitch M8 bolt? I know the specifications say that an M8 bolt can only be 1mm pitch but I have M8 bolts in my race car workshop that are 0.75, 1.0 and 1.25.

Re: nesting

You would need to create two jobs, import the vectors into each and delete the vectors that don't apply to that material thickness. You can't have different material thicknesses at the same time in the same job so nesting the two sets of vectors together wouldn't work. Another way if you want to sti...

Re: Vcarve of text is shifting upwards

You have round section in the corners of the letters where the letters should be square. Generally that's a sign that the v-bit is not exactly the same degrees as that programmed or the z-zero setting is not accurate. It can also be a sign of "slop" in the machine but it looks to consistent in your ...
