Re: newbie here

Yes, the Vectric offerings of programs is awesome. There's something new to learn, about it, every day. But it's a very pleasant learning experience.

Use the Fit Curves to selected Vectors tool. (3rd tool on the 3rd line of Edit Objects). Use either Circular Arcs or Bezier Curves as you wish. I use a .01 inch tolerance.
I tried this, and it worked so well for me. Thanks for suggesting it.

Re: Help with this tracing, please.

Learn to use the drawing tools, you could have drawn that dogbone in a couple of minutes if you knew how. Break your image down into shapes, it's just a circle & a Rectangle that have a distortion applied   You could use the bitmap as a template for sizing & positioning. Learning to use t...

Help with this tracing, please.

I had, recently, done a project for one of our daughters, which didn't come out right. I want to give her the best that I can, which translates into my desiring to redo it. The project is a dogbone, which is to have a pet's name carved into it. The project, that I did, had very unsatisfactory elemen...

Re: Failed Import Issues.

Thanks to everyone - who were so considerate in helping me out, I can say that I am back in the saddle again. Re-formatting my thumb drive did the trick. Also, as far as the non-responsiveness which often occurred with my software, a reinstallation of VCarve Pro did, indeed, seem to do the truck. AL...

Re: Failed Import Issues.

I was going to say that 16 gig should be alright but if there is a problem with Axiom machines reading above 8 gig them obviously that is wrong, i normally have a few drives in my pocket, couple of things, your drive may have damaged sectors rather than being past its end of life as Adrian has ment...

Re: Failed Import Issues.

[quoteAlso, my Vcarve Pro software is having periodic episodes of becoming non-responsive. It's been either that, or moving as slow as molasses. ] when ever that happens to me, I uninstall and reinstall the program. Last time it was my photovcarve program would not do right. it had become corrupted...

Re: Failed Import Issues.

Change the thumb drive. They have a limited life and you may have reached the end of life on that one. It's best to always write all files to the hard disk first and then transfer to the thumb drive so you always have at least two copies. Now, THAT is a bit disappointing. I got my CNC late last Oct...

Plus, VCarve creates .mmg files for various machines but does not read them (nor any other .tap, .nc, .gcode, etc.) files.
Didn't consider that until you mentioned it. Yep, that was erroneous, on
my
part.

Failed Import Issues.

Up until now, I had no issues with transferring files to my CNC, or calling them back up into my Vcarve Pro software. However, Now, I am plagued with issues that I don't know how to hurdle. One of our daughters is being given a puppy, and I wished to make a dogbone, name sign for him. I went through...

Re: Newbie joining the merry throng !

I have been reluctant to ask some questions because I know I am making a rookie mistake but I have never been talked down to And THAT's one thing which sets THIS forum leagues ahead of any others (that I've had any association with). Rookie mistakes I have not only made - but am STILL making some. ...

Re: File Help, Please.

Thank you SO MUCH, Doug. Yes, that is exactly what I was trying to accomplish. Dealing with errant vector issues gives me more head-scratching moments than (at least at THIS time) anything else about the program. I do understand, however, that it has nothing to do with the program - but rather a lac...

File Help, Please.

Hello all. Once again I am in need of help, here. For my Mother, I wish to do another carving, for her, and I found a free Clipart of Jesus - which I altered, a bit, and added a few other elements to it. When I proceeded to attempt a virtual carving, I was met with the 'Open Vectors' issue, again. W...
