Re: Inlay on a curved surface
What I have done with text on a curved surface is to use plastibond coloured with acrylic artist paint. Simply fill scrape level and sand smooth after setting. It is advisable to seal timber first with some estapol or shellac

Re: Acrylic edge finishing - Silvo
I use a series of wet and dry after the initial sanding to remove saw marks, then I go through the micromesh grades. It takes a little longer but works very well. When I did a series of round coasters I followed the same technique on the lathe

All you blokes inspire me and at the same time I get so envious of the work you do that I have to go out and try to get half as good. Havn't really done anything that matches you all so I will keep trying.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
Greolt and TReisch, Thanks for your comments gents, I can get the axis to move by using the normal buttons for moving the carriage around the table. I will not move when I manually enter a value for the A axis. However I will persevere and you have given me a fair bit of insight about where to start...

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
There are A values showing, I may have over thought the issue a bit.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
Sorry I have not been able to get back to it for a day or so. John, That advice was good and I think I got a couple of questions to now ask Randall Newcomb. Greolt, I activated the 'A' axis and everything slowed down drastically. I have since played with it a bit and it has returned to normal but st...

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
Thought it could have been sa simple as not having 'A' axis recognized in the settings. (in mach3 ports and pins) All that did was slow the whole system to an absolute crawl.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
I can move the rotary axis using the keyboard. It just does not move when I am running the small test program. This is even though the values of the 'A' change in the program as it runs. Almost like it is not sending the values to the machine.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
Yes Adrian thanks. I just spent a very cold Sunday in front of the fire looking at different subjects but didn't get anything that seemed to resemble my problem.

Need advice about rotary turning
Perhaps this should be in a different forum. I managed to set up my rotary engraving axis and of course ran into problems. I had a read of the tutorial in Humblesticks and watched the vectric tutorials. Here's the problem. When I load my Gcode for a simple test cut, my rotary axis does not move. I h...

Re: Problem with smoothing out a vector
I may be wrong but if you go into the node editing mode and remove all the points in the problem area and turn that section of the line into a bezier curve, you should be able to manipulate it by the handles to get a nice smooth curve. Worked for me so I hope it helps you. Of course someone else may...
