Re: Laser power and speed test file
Keeping the laser clean. I had a laser protective lens vibrate loose and fall into my Air Assist Cone and then it eteched the protective lens and rendered the 20 watt laser to where it wouldn't even etch pine. Laser light was big and round instead of concentrated. I was working with Ceramic Title Et...

Re: Laser power and speed test file
Thats a good point they have those there but again it's pretty much just etching and text. Just got a email from the James the Easy Gadget's Author and he is going to start on this new Laser test card gadget or what ever he calls it. So that will be a blessing for us Vectric laser folk. I made 10 ce...

Re: Laser power and speed test file
The laser database is from my testing which is limited to 44 test cards on various wood types. From that I watched a lot of youtube videos and retrieved the settings they used. Also some of the techniques they used. The program I put this data in is called Filemaker Pro and it is in a runtime (a pro...

Re: To Vent Outside or Inside this answers that question.
The Dust collection Gate valve that allows me to choose between venting outside or inside is working great. After 30 laser test card burns over the past few days its done excellent. We have been having 60 degree days on Feb 1st and that is NICE as it was in the 2 degree's 2 weeks ago. If Feb gets co...

Re: Laser power and speed test file
Nice work. The intricate work is why I went for the 20watt on my CNC Shark. I spent the day running laser tests on the 20watt laser. The 2 watt laser I had was just etch and how dark I wanted the etch. Today I cut all kinds of materials. up to 5/8" thick. In the past 3 days I have made over 20 test ...

Re: Laser power and speed test file
I have been going back and forth into the shop with various laser settings. I am using 3 different laser test setups. This is a whole new ball game with this 20watt laser. The 2 watt was easy as all it really would do was etch. This 20 watt burns deep holes in the materials. HA! I am learning more e...

Re: To Vent Outside or Inside this answers that question.
The 2 watt will produce some smoke. For example leather it will smell like burning flesh...because it is...ha! That was the only time I really wished it was vented outside. Lasering pictures and text and graphics in a quick engrave for the 2 watt was handled by my dust collector and filter. Yet I ca...

Re: Laser power and speed test file
Ha. In the process of making test files... I had to clear the smoke out of the room. So hence the video on how to make a box that allows me to on the fly control the vent choice - Inside or outside!
I could have sent you my 2 watt laser. It's in perfect shape.

Re: To Vent Outside or Inside this answers that question.
Ha. 400 watt that would need a industrial vent for sure. 30 foot vent stack like a power plant. What setting in vcarve do you use for that?

Re: Laser power and speed test file
Great news. The Author of the Easy line of Gadgets is looking into creating a easy laser test creator that will give us the ability to use Aspire or Vcarve (gadgets) to create a laser burn test. I shared with them ideas on what I thought I needed to make this thing handy. The past few days I have be...
