Re: Lateral ramp option

Why not just increase the number of passes so each pass cuts only a small amount. I do this to get cleaner cuts around all the edges and at the very bottom of the pocket.

Re: Explain the Ruler to me.

Wouldn't it be better if the ruler was divided into 1/16 inch (0.0625) tick marks when using the system set to inches. When using millimeters, 1/10 inch tick marks make perfect sense but when using inches, they are essentially useless.

Re: V11 More tool database issues

Another annoying issue with the Tool Database: My tool ID names are quite long (Amana Added Tools) so to really see the tool description, I need to resize the entire database window horizontally EVERY TIME I open the database. Why doesn't the software save the environment settings so it opens the sa...

Re: spoil board hold down

I just leave the spoil board loose and when I clamp the work piece on top, it locks in place. Are there reasons to not do it this way. It has been working just fine for me.

Re: VCarve reversing my work

I had the same issue. In t6he controller pad settings, there is an internal model number that is set wrong at the factory. The number controls axis direction and number of turns for each motor to control precision movement. Contact NextWave to get the correct number. I reversed the X & Y cables plug...

Re: Dust cnc makes a lot of it

Hi Peter, I saw a FaceBook post where a fellow makes fire-starter cubes by mixing melted paraffin (melted in an old Crockpot) with wood chips in square molds. After they are “set” the cubes are wrapped in paper bound with string which serves to help ignite the cube. I guess the only precaution is d...

Re: How to maintain the ability to measure Z zero

What about this (I am a NextWave Shark SD120)? 1. First day, set zero to surface. 2. At the end of the first day carve, the head should return to x=0, y=0, and z=safe height (mine is 0.5 inches) 3. Day two, do not move anything manually. Just click in the "Z" axis height, when in key a zero in the z...

Re: Laser Module

I figured out a way to do this for Next Wave CNC machines. A little cumbersome but otherwise it works perfectly. I am posting it here so it can help anyone else with a Next Wave CNC and a Next Wave Laser Unit. 1. Create your project in Drawing Mode 2. Save it in a unique subfolder 3. Use the proper ...

Re: Laser Module

I’m surprised there is not one for a Shopbot ! Problem is there isn't really a standard for how a laser is setup on a Shopbot so what works for one won't work for another. Better in many ways that the companies that make the lasers provide the post processor so there isn't confusion. Good luck wait...

You can save the laser toolpath directly from the toolpath form itself and set the post processor there.
What about setting the Material Z settings? For CNC carving I set Z to0.5, plunge to 0.25, and home to 0.5. The Next Wave instructions say to set all three of these settings to 0.001.

Laser Module and Machine Setup

So if I create a project with 4 toolpaths and one is for the laser then it is cumbersome to set the Material setup. For the carving tool paths I need one set of initial parameters (Z settings) and for the laser tool path I need a different set. Also, when I save the project, it saves the last TAP se...

In Help you can click on SINGLE PAGE and it will put all help content in a single web page. This is handy for searching. You can also print it, but be aware that it is over 400 pages.
