Re: identify open vectors

Check that the "rejoin trimmed vectors..." box is selected when trimming. That may reduce the open vectors.

Scalloped Edge with V bit

using VCP-11, how can you create a scalloped edge around a sign? I saw a video where (as I remember) they did a profile cut, ramping along the edge, with random length line segments. I can not find that video and I can't make a toolpath work to create it. Any ideas?

Re: Acrylic

You should try an "O" flute bit. They are designed for acrylics and plastics. That may make the lettering cuts cleaner.

Re: Bit rises after each pass VCPro 10.514

Thanks to all for your help. Since I feel accomplished just to know what G code is, I think the rest is above my pay grade, so better left alone. So the final take away is that it is supposed to do that and I didn't miss a setting selection. I'm learning each time.

Re: Bit rises after each pass VCPro 10.514

So how can I "tell" it where the last pass ended for the next path to begin?
I don't understand why the software wouldn't know where the material is, since it just removed the material during the pass.

Re: Bit rises after each pass VCPro 10.514

Thanks for your ideas. There are no open vectors. I tried ungrouping all and regrouping, recalculaterd toolpaths and saved new g code. I re ran the project, and I was wrong on first description. The profile pass only lifted up before final pass. However, the bit did lift up above material after each...

Re: Good bit to use on SpoilBoard ?

I found good info on Youtube for my spoil board. Stufftokeepyouentertained is the site. He has info on cutting out spoilboard, hold downs, survacing, etc. Plus there are TONS of other sites as well. Mark Lindsay's series helped me immensely.

Re: Bit rises after each pass VCPro 10.514

Did not have leads turned on. Will try ramps. I am trying to eliminate the bit retracting then plunging back. This is wasted motion and time. The X & Y are not moving during this motion. It is like drill pecking, but it is on a profile cut. Is there a setting that commands the bit to retract each pa...

Bit rises after each pass VCPro 10.514

I cut out a part using profile toolpath. The bit retracted above the material after each pass. The path had 8 passes to cut out the part, and the bit retracted each time it made a lap, then plunged to the next pass depth. I can't find anywhere in the toolpath setup that can control this. Any help? T...

Excessive toolpath

I am designing a door model and the 3D view is as I desire, but when creating toolpaths, I use the roughing tool to cut away using a large bit, then create the finish toolpath using an 1/8 ballnose. The finish toolpath goes over the same cuts as the roughing path, and takes 68 hrs to cut. How can I ...
