Same here. I deleted all cookies and it seems to be better.

Re: Unable to get clean V Carved Text

It doesn't look like there are any flutes on the cutter. No chip evacuation. Have you been able to satisfactorily use that cutter ever?

Re: Pockets aren't cutting correctly

I would check over your machine. Look for loose set screws on the "z" axis coupling.("x" and "y" also) Make sure your router is secure. It looks to me like a mechanical issue with your machine. Not your process or programming.

Re: Easy Flag Maker Gadget

Adze_cnc, yes that's it. I had a suspected it might be something with the name, but didn't know where to look. I know I'm showing my age, but DOS wasn't really all that hard to use. Windows XP worked fine for me too. Windows 7 through 11 hasn't made my life any better. Thanks for pointing me in the ...

Re: Easy Flag Maker Gadget

I'm using Aspire 11.504. Downloaded the EasyFlagMaker.zip from the forum. Changed the file name to EasyFlagMaker.vgadget. Saved it to my desktop. Opened Aspire, Clicked Install New Gadget. went to desktop. the folder is there named EasyFlagMaker.vgadget (see previous post picture). But it doesn't re...

Re: Easy Flag Maker Gadget

Still doesn't seem to recognize it. The folder shows it's there. The name looks correct, but it won't drop down to the "file name" box to be opened. It's like the name is not what it's looking for. Do I need to have a project open or something? I did try that, but it didn't help.

Easy Flag Maker Gadget

I can't get the Easy Flag Maker gadget to install. I downloaded the .zip file, extracted it to a folder on my desktop named (EasyFlagMaker.vgadget) But when I go to "Install New Gadget" it doesn't recognize that folder. What am I missing?

Re: Extended tool path pause - cool down?

Are you using "Carbide Motion" for your motion control? If so, you can just hit "Pause" and the "x" and "y" motion will stop, the "z" will go full retract and stay there until you hit "Start" again. Then the "z" will go back to depth and continue with the program. I would do it at the end of a pass ...

Re: Machine Upgrade Considerations

Thanks everyone for your insights. As expected, rigidity and HP are considerations. But 3D finishing doesn't generally require a lot of HP. The accel/decel issue is what I was wondering about. I watched a You Tube video of a machine using a 5/8 cutter running 600 ipm is solid Oak. (pretty impressive...

Machine Upgrade Considerations

I'm beginning to think about upgrading my CNC. I don't have any real issues with the Shapeoko. It does what is expected. Specifically though, I'd like to speed up the 3d finishing process. So my question is - will a higher HP spindle/router motor and more rigid machine frame decrease the finishing c...

Re: How to put Lines on a Cribbage Board Path

mikenbrenda,

You might be overthinking it. Just open your file, go to drawing tab and draw lines (vectors) where you want them. Then trim if necessary, and tool path it.

Re: Peck drilling question

Scott,

I've done quite a few cribbage boards. I use a 2-flute .125 upcut end mill. 12,500 rpm @ 15 IPM feed .080 peck depth with a .05 retract.(not a full retract) (total depth is .300) It works really good for me. No fuzzies, nice clean holes. Cycle time is 20 mins.

Re: Weird jog on one cut causes rest of work to be off center

On my machine, the total travel from limit to limit is 35". You don't have much room to play with. Are you possibly hitting your travel limit and losing steps? As suggested previously, check your set up and machine very carefully.

Re: Machining Allowance for a 3d reindeer

Dave, I made one of these just last week, also in walnut. I thought mine came out fine. I didn't change any of Todd's settings, only recalculated feeds to my machine. I had some fuzzy's that easily sanded out. I also had a few lines, but I think it's from the the step over on the 1/8" ballnose finis...
