Re: Thread Milling 1/4"bsp port for watercooling distro plate

A simple on-line search for BSP threads will find what you need. It is very important to note that BSP threads are a 55 degree v-form not 60 degree v-form. The thread mills you show are not correct.

Re: Advice for Retired Folks Getting Into This Hobby

+1. My dad, as he got older always said "drive slow", when we were leaving after a visit. For a long time we thought he was just telling us to be careful. But we came to realize that what he was really telling us was to slow down and enjoy what you have. Don't be in a hurry. Life goes by fast enough...

Lithopane

I'm thinking of trying to make a lithopane. I have VCarvePro V10.5. I need to have a 3d model to make the litho, but can't convert a .jpg with VCarvePro. I would need either Aspire or PhotoVCarve. Is that correct?

Thanks

Re: Need guidance on machining Alcoa mic 6

Mic 6 is CAST Aluminum, as opposed to billet or wrought. Also known as cast tooling and jig plate. It will machine fine without much welding to the tools. WD40 will work fine. Kerosene works really well too, but NOT RECOMMENDED in a wood shop. We use it in the machine shop for finish milling where t...

Re: Z-Zero shifting mid-process

Am I seeing your tool parameters correctly? The Amana settings are in "Inches per second" and the other is "Inches per minute" If those are your settings, that might be an issue.

Re: Paradise Box Variation

Thanks everyone for the kind words and compliments. The Paradise Box is such a nice project. It's not that difficult and it's easy to modify and make each one unique. I've made a few of them now and they always turn out nice. Now I need to start on my Christmas projects. I've got 2 house signs, 2 je...

Paradise Box Variation

The box is walnut with cherry inlays. Finish is BLO with three coats of spray poly. The Celtic cross on top and the weave on front and back are inset about 1/8". The ends are Zank V-Inlays. I was going to give it away, but it's found a home on the bedroom dresser. I guess I'll have to make another t...

Re: Design cut vertically offset relative to VCarve design

Just a quick question. Is your material blank the correct size? The same as defined in the design.

oops, just saw that you have checked, sorry.

OMG I knew it had to be something I was missing. Yes, I was working on a V-carve tool path and wasn't seeing the endmills. Thank You.

Tool Database

I need some help with tool database importing. I installed VCarve Pro on a desktop to run my machine instead of my laptop that I was using. I uploaded (exported from my laptop) my tool database to the portal. Then Imported from the portal to the desktop. Everything is there except the End Mills. Bal...

Re: V10.5 Posts

An update. I restarted V-Carve and then only the shapeoko post showed in the post processor list when I save the toolpath. So that's working correctly. I'm running the toolpaths now and everything seems to be working fine. I'm still wondering about the name change though.

V10.5 Posts

A quick question. I recently upgraded to V10.5 and have been following the topic about possible post processor issues. So I saved the post I was using in V10 to the My_postP folder. The readme note says " if any posts processor are placed here, they will become the only ones visible in the post proc...
