Re: Eliminate thumb drive?
I have my Windows computers networked so each can read the others drives. I do my design and tool paths on my desktop. Then I go to the shop, load the tool path over the network to my laptop and cut. No thumb drive, no cloud storage - it's all internal.

Re: Resin Inlay $20 Target Cutting Board Test
That's really awesome! Outrageous price for white oak, though. That's about 3 board feet and I pay , $6 / board foot - so $18!

Re: Texture Boundary Vector Offset
Mystery solved - somewhere along the way I shifted the letters down slightly and didn't recalculate the tool path. So the preview was cutting the letters with the original toolpath but the texture with the "moved" toolpath which was causing the overlap. So it was a bug, just not in the software - it...

Re: Texture Boundary Vector Offset
Just guessing - but did you use Tile Toolpaths in the "Y" direction? If so, did you first run the pocket toolpath for all the tiles and then run the texture toolpaths for all the tiles? If so, then the strange cutting behavior might be caused by your XY starting point for each tile was not exactly ...

Texture Boundary Vector Offset
Hi all, I'm trying to create a textured toolpath. I have a 60" high x 10" wide sign. It has the word "WELCOME" raised in a pocket. (I'm pocketing around the text). That part works fine. Then I do a texture toolpath using the same pocketing vectors selected, a 1/4" ball nose bit and a 1/8" vector off...

Re: Do not update to a new post-processor if you had one that works!!
While that sounds like great advice, it doesn't always hold true. In Vcarved Pro 10 I used Shapeoko MM post processor with my Shapeoko CNC. In 10.5 I used the same post processor that was provided with the upgrade and it ruined my project. So clearly, Vectric did something to the PP along the way. I...

Re: VCarve Pro ramp on curve
I don't have any leads. A lead would start outside the vector for some distance and then follow the vector. A ramp is supposed to start plunging while following the vector. So where my second plunge cut should be sloping down, you can actually see that it was just a plunge and then cut straight acro...

sharkcutup wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2020 2:28 pmWhy did you uncheck the ramp lead in box and add 2.0" distance?
I didn't uncheck that. I'm not using a lead on this, only the ramp. So with no lead it automatically unchecks that box.
I'm attaching my CRV for you to look at

VCarve Pro ramp on curve
I wanted to try my hand at a heart shaped jewelry box so I followed John Clark’s direction, got some nice 5/4 walnut ready and started making chips. All went great – until – it didn’t. The top and bottom lips and pockets worked great. The profile cutout – didn’t. For some reason the cut ramp just we...

Re: Z move when pocketing
In the case of the paw prints I was doing, the 4 "toes" were small enough that it was only 1 path, but the center "pad" was multiple paths. But on all of them, the Z moved up to above the top of the stock and went back down - seemed like a huge waste of time.

Z move when pocketing
I just got done cutting "paw prints" as a pocket in 3/4" stock. They go all the way through and they consist of 5 small areas in the shape of a print. When they were cutting I noticed that the bit would cut (I think DOC was .1" with a .25" end mill), then raise above the surface, plunge for next pas...

Re: Totally Lost Making Flag
Wolfman, The Distort tool uses node editing and with that you can create some nice looking flags with just little effort. Keep plugging away, learn to crawl.... Highpockets - I just tried a quick distort on a US Flag and was able to get a decent shape pretty easily. But after the distort I am unabl...
