I consider this a fatal bug..
Yeah running Aspire V12 on Mac running Windows 10 under Parallels and having no issues with the dialog boxes. No place close to a "fatal bug". This is a configuration issue on your set up.

Re: Easy way to deepen the Lake?

Steven's method is the process I use and has to be the best way to make this happen. The ability to reimport a model multiple times makes this a pretty straightforward process.

Re: VCarve Pro not opening!!

I also run Aspire within Parallels and I find every couple months I need to reset Windows to fix goofy little things that crop up. That's become the first thing I try when any kind of issues crop up and it resolves the issues most of the time.

Re: Tool Path Question???

OK, this is very much my two cents worth and feel free to just blow this off as an uninvited suggestion but....if you're going to be doing more 3D type of carves managing the model boundary functions can be a really useful skill to develop. This model with the voids shows very clearly why having the...

Re: Tool Path Question???

It looks to me like the model itself actually has voids in those open spaces. Thus, there is no 'model' to carve in those spaces. The reason the other spaces are not leaving slivers behind is that the combination of the tool diameter and the boundary offset setting is overcutting into the void ares....

Re: Profile Cutting 2mm Abalone Shell Material

I have cut mother of pearl for making fretboard markers and it worked pretty well. I epoxied the shell blanks to a piece of backing material ( https://www.precisebits.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3323&search=BF93-0912-005&description=true ), secured the backing material to the spoi...

Re: finish pass on pocket

I have a couple projects that involve a lot of pocketing so I wrote a gadget to accomplish this. In essence my finishing pocket toolpath will involve a much smaller stepover value with a shallower depth of cut which will give a nice surface on the bottom of the pocket. As an example, for a pocket wi...

Re: Alignment hole woes

So your job set up appears to be set up for a vertical flip so you're just inviting issues if you try a horizontal flip. I do a lot of double sided projects and I tried placing my holes for the 1/4" alignment dowels symmetrically like you've done but I could never get it work. I now use assymetrical...

Re: Finishing Pass - Grooves

I would try reducing your stepover. I typically use stepovers in the 8-12% range for finishing cuts. A 50% stepover will definitely leave small ripples in your surface.

Auto Vector Selection with Laser Module

Does anyone know why the Laser Module does allow for Automatic Vector Selection like all other toolpath options offer? Gets very frustrating trying to create and use project and toolpath templates that involve laser toolpaths. I have to think there must be a functional or programmatic reason as not ...

Re: help with model position in material

Yeah the Cut2D forum posting observation is interesting, As far as I understand this could not be a Cut2D project as that program has no 3D capabilities (toolpathing, importing stl files, etc). But, again, could be I don't know what I'm talking about.

Re: help with model position in material

I guess I'm not real sure where the disconnect is here. I was able to open the file and first reset the base height to 0. Screen Shot 2023-05-22 at 7.06.07 AM.png Next went into Material Set up and made sure that model was positioned with 0 inch gap above the model. Screen Shot 2023-05-22 at 7.06.26...

Re: Larger 3d clearance tool

I make a lot of terrain maps and I routinely use a 1/2" end mill with Z-level strategy for my roughing followed by a 1/8" tapered ballnose for the finish. Using the 1/2" with the Z-level strategy saves a considerable amount of time in the roughing toolpath.
