Re: Exporting Preview to STL

Sorry...VST is a music acronym that slipped into my befuddled brain while I was creating this question. Replace VST with STL throughout.

Exporting Preview to STL

My little sister bought a 3D printer and is learning to use it. On my end, I created a wooden mask which I modeled in Aspire as a 2-sided model. I would like to export this mask to a VST file so my sister can import it into her 3D printer and print it. Sounds easy...NOT. I modified the final profile...

Two-sided Mask Finished!

After many, many hours of modeling this silly mask, I finally either solved all my problems or found reasonable work arounds. And I thank whole-heartedly those of you who lent me a hand with my questions. The finished product, although noteworthy, stands second to the learning I achieved in this act...

Problem Modeling A Mask

I have been trying to model and cut a wooden mask on my CNC for quite a time now. I have attached a Word document to describe the problem I am having. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Anyone doing epoxy inlays successfully?

I do a lot of epoxy inlays--although mostly for smaller projects. Bubbles are an issue. I have a pressure pot I built and have used successfully for making items like knife scales and such. The idea is that under pressure, any bubbles become microscopic. As for other applications where the pressure ...

Re: 2-sided modeling problem

Thanks for directing me to the Spoon video. It helped. However, the explanation was a bit vague in the video. Let me see if I understand it correctly: If a model has several levels...say... 5 4 3 2 1 And say most of the components of the model reside in level 1. And perhaps tabs in 2, and other elem...

2-sided modeling problem

I am getting some puzzling behaviors from my model and can’t seem to figure out wat is happening and why. Let me explain: As my first try at 2-sided modeling, I am attempting to model a wooden mask. I am working from 1” thick material. The top side of the mask consists of facial elements including t...

Re: Modeling a contour

Yes, but the slope that is apparent in your rendering exists both on the top and the bottom:

Modeling a contour

I recently built my first guitar. Looking at it hangin on the wall, I thought it would be nice to make some tuner keys from exotic wood. And since I have a CNC router and a lot of time to learn how to use it, I thought I would model this object. Well I got as far as modeling the basic Oval shape in ...

XYZ change on 2nd side

My question concerns the change of the XYZ coordinates after flipping a 2-sided model on the CNC Router. Please see attachment for details.

Re: Closed Vectors sharing lines

I thought I might share the finished product since several of you helped me to get this complete. The pockets are filled with dyed epoxy resin. The frame--which still needs a bit of sanding--is cherry.
