Re: V carve inlay confusion

Hi adze_cnc and fixit mike Thanks for your replies. Ollie wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 9:02 pm Why does my female pocket not cut the clearance endmill toolpath until I input a negative value in flat depth yet the male pocket does not require a negative and seems to work as normal. Re: V carve inlay confusion

Thanks adze_cnc I think that post is one I read when I first did the inlays.I used to have a handle on it but I am now confused again. VCarve does not need for you to specify depths differently whether the Z-zero is set at top or bottom of material. Depths are positive. So, start depth 0m and flat d...

V carve inlay confusion

I am sure this has been covered before and I am sorry to bring it up again but I can`t find quite the answer to my problem. I have done several inlays before and not had this issue. I have set the female vcarve toolpath with 60 degree vbit and 4mm endmill for the clearance of the flat depth ( set at...

Re: Alternative to native 3DConnexion Support

Hi jvosburg I would like to get this to work with my vcarve desktop, just pan and zoom would be great as my left hand just assumes it will do it because I am used to the spacemouse and I find it super annoying... Will I need to edit the txt file to say vcarvedesktop instead of pro or just copy the e...

Re: Spacemouse is awesome, support please.

Hi Adze_cnc You are correct there is no "need" for it in order for it to work perfectly well. Its just that now my left hand automatically thinks it can pan and zoom with it, it feels slow after using Fusion. Its like when you first drive an automatic car after years in a manual and your clutch leg ...

Re: Spacemouse is awesome, support please.

Hi Adrian I have the 3dxware. It is interesting that when I open vcarve desktop and am in a drawing I can click a button on the mouse or the 3d mouse which brings up a menu. It knows it is in vcarve 10 so I click on the advanced setting and it gives the normal options for each axis of movement. I ca...

Re: Spacemouse is awesome, support please.

Hi Adrian Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree that its primary function is for proper 3d like inventor, fusion which I use and 3ds, maya and other stuff for animation studios. I know it wont really be adding functionality to vcarve but having removed those mouse clicks from fusion then going...

Spacemouse is awesome, support please.

I did do a search for this and only came up with quite old replies all of which were to the effect that there was no support because it was not important enough. Just wondering if anyone has managed to get anywhere with it. I have just got a 3DConnexions spacemouse wireless and the CADMouse wireless...

Re: Game Table Trio

Nice. I was thinking of doing a tabletop gaming box similar to this with a lazy suzan under it so it rotates. I was going to do chess board/ scrabble and monopoly with drawers underneath for storing the bits. I was worried about the owners of scrabble or monopoly suing me if I tried to sell them. Ol...

Re: Geometric pattern fading out accross plane/ face

Thanks for all the replies. 4dthinker that is the sort of idea I was going for in your image. I really like islamic style geometric patterns and want to do some stuff with those. Greg. That is interesting but confusing I will try to get my head around zero planes. I will have a good try with all the...

Re: Made a few things.

Thanks Savannahdan The sign is in a pub/restaurant actually. I must say it looks clearer in real life, the blue is lighter than it looks here and a bit easier to see, also it is quite big at 650mm tall. Choosing the colour was difficult, I thought black would be too dark and white a bit too shocking...

Re: Geometric pattern fading out accross plane/ face

dealguy11 I have thought of this and will give it a try. My concern with this method is that I can`t see it before letting the machine loose on it. Especially with the last bit of fancy timber I have been saving ! I suppose I could do tests on lesser material. It seems like it should be possible giv...

Re: Need bit help

I will add a little of my experience so far with router bits and cnc. I already had many router bits when I got my CNC machine so started with them really. Mostly if they work in a normal router they will be fine in a CNC its all about the speed. I have bought a few specialized bits that I think are...
