Re: Portrait Relief Carving

Me too. I tried Dmap2Gcode. it seems to work and I even got to save the roughing file in Gcode. I put it on the clipboard as instructed but though I can see all the lines I am at loss as to how to put it into Vectrid to convert it into a tap file which in needed by the machine.

Portrait Relief Carving

Hello all. I havebeen looking with great interest at various YouTube videoe about how to carve a portrait in 3D ((2.5) from a photo. The Photo is converted to greyscale before use, so that the depth of cut is set by the density of the black or white areas. Being a Vectric user I wonder if this can b...

Re: Does this happen often?

Mea culpa.......Mea culpa..... I am now sure that BOB got it right. The Piranha FX does not have limit stops and if you go too far it bangs right onto the end of travel. Looking back it does seem that the top limit was JUST reached without any banging or clanking and moved left level until it needed...

Re: THE DUST BOOT FOR THE PIRANHA FX

HI Ron That's a neaat solution. I did try following the cutter as close as possible with the VAC nozzle, and it did work as you said, about 90%. I see you use the two front spiondle clamp bolt to hold the vac pipe. I will try to make that first and see if I can get it to work,.... It should. thanks ...

Re: THE DUST BOOT FOR THE PIRANHA FX

Hi

Many thanks for the info on the dust boot. Yes I have the NWA Piranha FX. So the top bit is bolted to the spindle carrier and the lower bit either slides off forward or is on magnets. Can you please tell me which,

EG.

The dust Boot for the Piranha FX

Hi all I have now been using the FX for a while and am very happy with it. That said I have found that when pocketting or similar operations where stock has to be removed, the chips really fly. I had to build a surround around the FX so that the chips were contained and I could run the shop vac to c...

How about doing an air cut.

HI all, I recently had a very narrow escape from a disaster. I had set the work piece up with screw hold downs that looked to be well away from any toolpath. So using a 1/8th end mill I started cutting the outer toolpath to release the workpiece, Now I, for now. being a bit of both a newbie to this ...

Re: Made a Silly Error, but can't fix It, can you?

HI I cured it ,but not in a normal way. when I had two items on the workpiece it did the double cut thing , but selecting just one and watching the preview it only did the normal single cut., why this is happening I don#t know. but it is something I can live with until another prob;em rears its ugly...

Re: Made a Silly Error, but can't fix It, can you?

6.jpg 2.jpg 1.jpg 1.jpg HI all The pix were too big so I resized them. The photos show a series of pic from opening box creator to the final cut out. when I hit the OK button the parts ere too big for the work area, so I centred them, This left what looks like the original toolpaths, so I deleted t...
