Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

I ended up taking the Jtech no Z movement postP and renaming it as: POST_NAME = "OpenBuilds (inch) Laser (*.gcode)" POST_BASE = "Grbl_inch.pp" FILE_EXTENSION = "gcode" UNITS = "INCHES" LASER_SUPPORT = "YES" Its now is recognized and works in the laser module as a postP and eliminated the Z movement ...

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

I was editing the post processor last night before reading your post this morning and was able to get things working correctly. I kept the base openbuilds postp in the MypostP folder and then copied it 7 times and edited each post name to eg. "Openbuilds 25000 (inch) (.gcode)". 25000 represents the...

Re: Laser module needs Z axis control added

jjneeb, I have this same need. Much of my lasering will be with non 3D models and just letter engraving which the Z height was controllable with the JTech postP but that doesn't work with the new Vectrics laser module so my Z movemnt is adding a lot of time to each laser burn. This really needs to b...

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

Greg,
Should I try tape splitting the openbuilds post processor instead of the GRBL then? Do you think that might solve the issue?

Do you know if there is an issue with the laser preview and all power settings showing the same darkness?

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

I have 7 post processors that I use on a routine basis. They are all based off of the GRBL inch post processor but each with different tape splitting gcode amounts. The new laser post processor I'm trying to use is the openbuilds. When this post processor is in the MypostP folder alone it will displ...

Laser job preview and post processor drop down

First, wondering about the laser module job preview. I have several laser toolpaths with different power settings but the preview shows the same darkness for every toolpath no matter what the power setting. Second, why won't my post processor display in the select laser post processor drop down when...

Re: Laser module postprocessor issue

Is there any update to this issue? Im able to get the post processor to work and display in the laser cut & fill post processor drop down as long as the post processor isnt saved under My_PostP. As soon as I move it under My_PostP it fails to display under the laser post processor drop down.

Re: Toolpath for roundover

The moulding toolpath works great for rounding over an edge. Just takes a little longer. EDIT: The moulding toolpath for rounding over an edge isn't an automatic or built-in toolpath. You still have to set it up and select the drive rail and the profile. Thanks Steve! I think this is what I'm looki...

Re: Toolpath for roundover

Just use a roundover bit (without a bearing) and run a profile path. Would the toolpath just be on the line for whatever depth I want? Well down to what the tool is capable of? Could the roundover be accopmlished with a ball nose bit and a molding toolpath? I'm not by my computer right now to see i...

I could be mistaken but, using a bit with a bearing. is not recommended.on a CNC. A pointed roundover would probably work much better.
I would only use that in my palm router not the cnc.

Toolpath for roundover

Could anyone advise if its possible in Desktop to add a toolpath/molding to the top ridge of the sunken 3D image? Please excuse the sloppy model but this is a rough draft. I was just seeing how everything was going to fit together. I now wanted to try and add a soft roundover (like the one circled i...

Re: Error Import Failed

Can you open the STL with another program such as 3D Builder or 3D Viewer? It may be a corrupt STL. If you got it online you might try downloading it again. I originally created the stl from touchterrain. I tried opening in 3dviewer.net and that to gave me an error. I will try and create another st...
