New Font feature

I really like the ability to have the most recent fonts at the top. However, I'd ask for a new (?) feature. I'd really like to have my "favorite fonts" at the top. Any way that you could do a feature change so that our 5 (or variable) favorite fonts stay at the top? Thank you!

HD4 with 7 watt laser

I’m trying to configure the “bit” for using the 7 watt laser.

What is the “width” I need to use for the laser?

Are there any videos that take me step by step in configuring and using it?

Re: Vcarve acting wonky

If you've cut it four times from the same tap file and 2 came out right and 2 didn't I don't see how it can be VCarve at fault as it's not involved in the process at that stage. True - have to ASSume that if it’s vcarve related it’d be wonky every time. So - May be something wonky with the control ...

Re: Oramask / Oracal varieties

I apply a light coat of Polyurethane to my pine wood, apply Oracal 651 (or the Greenstar equivalent) and that is it. I don't have any bleed. Or none that amounts to anything bad imo. I wish that’d work for me. Most times when I spray (even) a heavy coat of poly, I still get enough bleed that I’m gl...

Vcarve acting wonky

Yep “wonky,” a highly technical term... I imported a bmp, then did an image trace. Everything looked fine on the 2d and 3D views. I saved the toolpath for a V bit and one for 2mm endmill, and proceeded to carve. Did 4 total carves with the same tap file. 2 came out fine but 2 came out as depicted. I...

Re: Oramask / Oracal varieties

Perhaps I should create a new post for this question but it’s related to oramask... When I carve a sign covered w oramask, I spray a semi heave coat of poly on it before spray painting the carved letters. I do this to try to prevent bleed / run... But usually I still get bleed thru under the oramask...

Oramask / Oracal varieties

I bought some Oracal Oramask 813 a while ago and it works well. I see that there are a bunch of different “Ora” products out there in different price ranges and colors.

Has anyone done a comparison on which works best?

Does the 813 stick better than the 831?

Re: Spiral 2 flute vs. O flute bits

I’m mostly cutting signs out of Lowe’s pine boards. Some recycled pallet oak.

My end mills are a cluster of 2mm down cut, .125” up & down & compression, and .25” up & down cut. Depending on the size of the cut...

Spiral 2 flute vs. O flute bits

I’ve been using up and down cut spiral end mills. The down cut bits pack chips into my profile cut. A pita to clean out and I know that can’t be good for the bit. The uncut bits frequently leave rough bottoms and usually fuzzy at the perimeter. I’ve been doing a little reading about O flute bits. Ca...

Re: Organizing Tool Paths

Vector Selection This area of the toolpath page allows you to automatically select vectors to machine using the vector's properties or position. It is also the method by which you can create Toolpath Templates to re-use your toolpath settings on similar projects in the future. For more information,...

Re: Avoiding Machine Gotchya's

I set my speed to 80IPM for the most part. I do worry about the speed being too slow and the chip load being wrong. I just can’t get me head wrapped around chip load and I’m probably dulling my bits before their time...

point about letter spacing and “lessons learned”

I just worked on a sign where I used a 60V for the name. 3D view looked great. First carve, the letters were way too close and several overlapped enough to ruin the carve. I went back and used the spacing tool to separate them a bit more. 3D looked great. Still overlapped! I thought Z0 too deep - no...
