Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

Well, I went and played with your version of the file. I changed from vcarve to pocket using a 1/4" clear and then a 30 degree v. It reduced the cutting time to about 2-1/2 hours. Like I said, I am inpatient!

A very versatile program! Just gotta keep playing with it.

Thanks

Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

Nice! I checked out your file, it would take almost 5 hours to cut on my machine. While my version is no where near as nice, it only takes about 45 minutes to cut. I'm not that patient lol.

Thanks for all your help!

Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

Definitely not taken the wrong way. I bought the Shapeoko 3 standard as a retirement gift to myself. I then upgraded to to the 4XL. I've tried many things, failed the first time at most of them but persevered and am very happy with the results. One of the things I failed at was inlays and that was w...

Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

Nice. I usually paint before I cut. Doing it the way you did, paint the fish area red and after cutting flood the hook field with blue and the fish field with white. I think it would be beautiful, but I haven't ventured into epoxy yet lol. I am also impatient and I think the cut time would be much l...

Thanks! It is a very comprehensive program and sometimes I go down the wrong path lol. I did send my suggestion into Vectric.

Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

While you have the file.... I noticed something else I don't understand. The field cut I use so I can paint before cutting the rest of it. It is a shallow cut. When I preview the field cut it looks like my material is tapered. It starts the cut deep and then fades out. I'm baffled and don't see wher...

Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

I am very sorry, I 1. Should clean my laptop screen so I'd see it and 2. be more careful about cleaning up the crap. I do try to solve my own issues first. THANKS very much for your help!!! I would appreciate it if my suggestion was considered about changing the job limits from 25X25 to a total squa...

Re: Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

But if I zoom out to everything, the object should appear, right? I also selected everything in my project and did a ctrl-c to copy it. Then did a ctri-a to select everything and deleted it. Then did a ctrl-v to copy what I wanted back. Recalculated and then tried to save g-code and got the same err...

Project is 12X24 but wants me to tile

I have just downloaded and installed Desktop 11.503. I am making a flag that is 12.6 X 24. When I go to save the toolpaths it says I have to tile since my project is over 25X25. My material size is 12.6 X 24 and .25 thick. If I tell it to 'zoom active window' with nothing selected, it doesn't show a...

Re: Tiling, y pass through, and origin

THANKS! That explains a lot! Once I move the board, do I rezero my machine. Somehow the machine has to know I moved the board. Does the gcode for the second file use coordinates that have been offset by the distance the board was moved? I.E. if the gcode says go to 0,0 it is going to the 0,0 of the ...

Re: Tiling, y pass through, and origin

But when I move the board over, how do I know exactly how much to move it> There is no alignment spot to get it moved to exactly the right offset?
