Re: Another Resin Filled Tray

Really like this. Well done! Have three friends with a bicycling history that would find this a wonderful gift.

Re: "The Eye of Zank"

Nicely done Egyptian mythology symbol - the right eye of Horus.
Have a question ... I am planning some carvings in walnut slabs. What, if any, issues have you run into carving in the cookies?

Re: Butterfly Box

Jay,
Not your attention - didn't have location in my profile until later yesterday. Yes, we are close. Looks like Scott T is a WI native also.

Re: Butterfly Box

Gkas and Scot,
Thanks for the compliments on the box. Bought some small sample sheets of the copper veneer from veneersupplies.com. Cut one sheet into strips for inlay in another box.

Thanks Jay. Appreciate your comments. I wasn't sure I could cut the copper veneer with the CNC, but it worked.

Re: VCarve Inlay clean-up

Thank all for your advice - makes total sense. No drum sander, so the cut and hand or rotary sand and/or scraper will do it.
Thank you again, it is immensely helpful to have experienced folks to learn from.

VCarve Inlay clean-up

New to this. Have a question. Could I run a V-carve inlay through a very light pass on my planer after bandsawing off the majority of the inlay wood? I worry it may chip out tight corners of the inlay.

Re: Avoiding Machine Gotchya's

I am new at this, but one thing I found that caused depth problems across even a small piece of wood, is when clamps were unevenly spaced around the perimeter. This caused the unclamped area to be slightly higher which caused uneven depth across the carvings.
