Re: WinCNC, UCCNC or Centroid Acorn
Thanks guys, I can't seem to upload anything from my phone very frustrating. So here's the link to my centroid build thread/lot's of questions, just skim through it to see the photos since it's going to be boring reading all the questions of a new cnc user. http://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?...

Re: WinCNC, UCCNC or Centroid Acorn
Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. I built my first cnc machine a year ago, I decided on going with a router instead of a plasma "original plan" since I work with wood as well as metal. More metal to be honest and a fair amount of aluminum sheet insert "router" . So any way coming from a what I...

Re: recommed an end mill please
I don't think you will find a 3/16" endmill with a 1.5" LOC . Maybe I'm wrong, but my 3 flute 3/16" only has 5/8" LOC.

Re: recommed an end mill please
Check out Gorilla Endmills website. You're going to want carbide for aluminum not HSS. They have a endmill calculator and their endmills are great for aluminum and reasonably priced. I found them from the guys on practical machinest when I was looking for decent endmills for aluminum. Let us know wh...

Re: vcarving and flat area clearance tool
Did you try using a pocket tool path to clear everything out and then use a profile tool path with a v bit? I personally haven't used a v-carve tool path yet since so far it hasn't been what I'm looking for with my design's.

If the sign is thick enough, you can counter boar the holes and put plugs over the hardware. Looks nice too

Re: Material setup with different Z-zero's
I'm just trying to get in the habit of not cutting into the holdown surface. It's going to be replaced with a aluminum plate in the not so distant future. I just figured that since other Cam software allows this that Vectric might. I now know it doesn't and apparently I'm the only one who would like...

Re: Material setup with different Z-zero's
Just to update, apparently what I'm trying to do isn't that unusual after all. I have other software which allows you to do exactly what I'm trying to do with in one file. One of the guys from the Centroid forum has modified a macro for setting up a g54 and g55 for the job so you don't have two diff...

Re: Bad poplar board
It cuts better when the bit is turning the correct direction. I've been working with CNC machines for 14 years but this is the first time I've dealt with this error. GreenManIMG_0557.jpg That turned out very nice great job! I really like the color of the wood, are you going to just leave it natural...

Re: Bad poplar board
Here's my first and only experience cutting poplar, I just thought it cut similar to pine. It turned out how I wanted so I'd use it again.

What are you trying to glue it to? 3m makes really good spay adhisives in different strengths for different substrates. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/Adhesives-Tapes/Industrial-Adhesives-and-Tapes/Non-Structural-Adhesives/Spray-Adhesives/?N=5002385+8710676+...

Re: Losing steps while cutting
Different controller but I know a guy who was having the same problem on a 3d tool path that had a lot going on. It turned out to be his PC causing the problem, he thought it was his driver's and upgraded to DMM servo's and like I said it was his computer not having the processing strength. I think ...
