Re: BIG Rotary 3d carving of Ibex Mountain Goat
There are drying issues with the pith being mostly in the center of the logs. I have to carve the large logs green otherwise it is too hard on the spindles at the rate I need to remove chips. As the carvings dry, I often either have a long waiting period and then fill cracks, or I put an intentiona...

Ya know what, I can do better...
I was in the middle of a project and figured out that I needed a tool stand/holder to continue with an upgrade. So, headed to the workshop with the plan of drilling a 1-1/14” hole in a scrap 2x6 and making a post out of PVC to hold the tool. Found a scrap piece of 2x6, drilled the hole, made the PVC...

Wow, I poked my head into the forum at just the right time.
That looks amazing as does the Machine!
Congrats!
I am curious about any pith issues since the center of the work is the center of the log.
Please keep sharing pictures.

Re: Borders won't center
I read it that the test cut went well but the second cut was off 5/16 in both X & Y.On my test pieces I center both border vectors and it looks perfect.
Problem is, my borders end up off-center about 5/16" toward Y+, and about the same towards X-.
Pictures would go a long way with helping.
