Will try and add some images.
Things came out pretty well and my perimeter slot worked after a couple of tweaks
Thanks for the help

Re: Can I use an open vector for tool path
You are absolutely right. I reset the cut depth to 0.001 after a start depth of 0.4 I then did some manipulating of the open vector [for the slot profile] for the slot cut using node edit and got the start and end were I wanted it. I will still need to do some careful calculating to get the slot whe...

Re: Can I use an open vector for tool path
OK Here goes. I will try and find out how to attach my project file in VCARVE. To clarify, I am essentially trying to cut a slot around the four sides of a pocket which I have created. Wood thickness is 0.75 and the pocket depth is 0.4. I understand that an additional pocket cut is out of the questi...

Re: Can I use an open vector for tool path
When I try to use a keyhole approach the profile toolpath does not seem to want to start at 0.4 inches and insists on cutting through the entire work piece - even when I insert the starting depth at 0.4 and finish depth at 0.401. If I try to use a pocket approach it does not like an open vector.

Can I use an open vector for tool path
I am trying to undercut the perimeter of a pocket using a flat undercutting router bit. To avoid cutting down directly through the finished edge I would like to create a cutting path to follow a polyline. This would allow mw to drop into the center of an existing pocket, set my depth run around the ...

Re: tap handle to hold an electronic device
I have an idea to try. I created a profile [profile 1] to match the inner edge of the hollowed out area [call it pocket1] in the interior of the handle. I extended this new profile longer than the work piece. I can then start [and end] the path outside my work. If I make only one pass with a total c...

tap handle to hold an electronic device
I am in the process of making a tap handle with an open top and lets say 7/8" thick 3" wide and 5" tall First I need to mill out a vertical pocket maybe 7/8" wide by 3" tall and maybe 1/2" deep and leave it open at the top of the tall dimension. My next challenge is to undercut [slot cut] around thr...

Need slot cutter help
I am trying to make a piece about 4 x 6 x 1" thick with a pocket near one end. I will need to make a slot for an insert sheet. Think of a picture frame with one end where the photo is inserted. I am looking for a 1/16" [maybe 1 - 1 1/2" in diameter] slot cutter which I can run around the inner circu...

Thanks for the responses - I will try this out.
Really appreciate the help. I guess once we have the answer it all seems sort of simple?

Re: A simple medallion w Monagram
Very much like that but I did not want the overall surface to be a complete arc and hoped for the ability to start the chamfer at the radius I needed. On second viewing I do see that the chamfer in your sample does indeed start at a radius greater than 0. I did want to make a single large letter and...

A simple medallion w Monagram
I am trying to make a simple 3" dia medallion 1" thick with essentially an eased outer diameter [something like the back side of a dinner plate] The total easing maybe .25" starting out 0" at radius 0.75" and ending 0.25" downward at the 1.5" radius. I would also like to engrave a simple monogram ov...
