Re: Non-spoiled spoilboard

Thanks Scott
Yes the inserts are flanged and recessed slightly
I used ply rather than MDF and so far it’s remained stable . I would have used MDF however the stuff they sell around here is IMHU soft crap.

Non-spoiled spoilboard

Since switching from the traditional screw the part down to clamp the part down I have been pleased with the results. I made the wood clamps from Maple and purchased the brass rod for making the studs. I then had to come up with a way to store the various components. Setup.jpg Closed.jpg Inside.jpg ...

Re: limitations of 1/4" collett

bogged down trying to drill with the collet nut scott Scott - I have a 4hp water cooled spindle. Drilling with a collet nut is still NOT a well thought out plan. I know this very well. So, Don't try drilling with a collet nut unless you have a 50 hp spindle Does this apply to all collet nuts or are...

Re: Sanding the finished product

3M sanding discs work great for removing the “fuzzies” from your carvings. They have 1/8” mandrels you can use with your Dremel.
Available from many sources just look for 3M sanding discs

Re: 2021 User Group Meeting - San Diego

I considered signing up for my first in-person users group but felt it was still too early to hold it because of the ongoing Covid issue. Call me what you want but I've always been a glass half empty person. Expect the worst and you're never disappointed. Some day maybe I'll get to meet yo...

Re: Todd's Wonky Centerline Shoehorn

"Proper one?" Are you KIDDING ME? ANYBODY can make a symmetric model - it takes joi de vivre, artistic genius, poetic license and a certain, "it is my art, if you don't understand this is not my problem" attitude to create such a piece! Call Christies Auction house and tell them it's a famous lost ...

Todd's Wonky Centerline Shoehorn

Decided to make Todd's Wonkey Zero plane Shoehorn from Peter Parfitt"s challenge. To be somewhat different I laminated Walnut and Maple strips. The intent was to have the maple run down the center with walnut and maple on either side. So much for my intentions. When the cut started I remembered the ...

Another Birdhouse

Seems I'm on a birdhouse kick recently and this is my latest project. Not having a 4th axis I had to cut double sided segments to construct this round one. Copper roof (Paint) and metallic base (also paint) it's made from big box 3/4" pine smooth inside and textured bark on the exterior. Assembled.j...

Kountry Kabin (Or Michael made me do it)

I had seen a model called Hunter Cabin that Michael T had made previously. Unfortunately it was on a different platform not compatible with Aspire. Michael said “You have all the tools in Aspire to model one yourself ”. Yes, I had all the tools in my toolbox but not necessarily the skill set to use ...

Re: Poor Painter - Resin filled on texture surface

Well if that is lousy painting I have no idea how you would describe mine   I agree with Martin. Nice work Painting is definitely not my strong side that’s why most of my projects are cut from hardwood so I don’t have to paint. I have a project that has been sitting for days waiting for...
