Re: Is there any hope for Linux users?
One great thing about Vectric software is that it does not require high end hardware to run well. In general I agree with your statement but my laser fill toolpaths are a different animal. Those toolpaths never completed on my Mac running fusion (and I waited hours). I bought a high end Windows mac...

Re: Resize STL model
Definitely at import time. I did a test of importing a model that was 100mm and then scaling it to 500mm at import and after. The one that was scaled at import was significantly higher quality. I presume that's because it's taking up more of the material space on creation so has far more pixels mak...

I'm going to add the PeekValue function to the list of things to experiment with. Thanks for the reference that I'd forgotten

Playing with LUA
I've slowly been playing with LUA in post processors to experiment and see what it can do. I'll upload a sample postprocessor for you to play with that has most of the Blocks converted to LUA. Note it DOES NOT YET generate any Gcode but it's intended to display that variables that Vectric to the pos...

Re: Speed up 3d carve
Use both bits. The finer bit should only cut the area the bigger bit can't get into. The software allows you to enter multiple bits.

Re: Presetting Z with laser
I have a version of the post processor that I use for laser toolpaths that always keeps the laser at Z=0. I set the Z manually and zero it about 1/8" above the material. Just change this line in your post processor to VAR Z_POSITION = [Z|C|Z|1.3|0.00001] It uses the scaling feature to effectively re...

Re: Editing 3Dwave file
I've loaded 3Dwave files into Blender and resculpted areas I wanted to change including text. Blender has a steep learning curve but it's very powerful. I probably could have done it in Aspire but you tend to use what you know best.

Re: Very slow rotary turning near the outside diameter
Look for a setting for constant surface speed and turn it off...I'm not sure that's an issue as I don't have Mach3, but if constant surface spped is turned on the spindle will rotate slower at larger diameters and speed up as the diameter gets smaller until it reaches a pre-programmed speed...just ...

Re: ER 11 vs ER 20 Colletes.
I went with a G-Penny 800w spindle with ER11. Fit my 65mm mount and I absolutely love it. There have been very few times I have wanted a larger collet.
My decision was based on the weight difference of the spindles

Re: Laser Alignment Problem
If your laser has a magnetic mount you may find it moves each time you mount it. I use a laser that mounted in the spindle collet and while more stable still was off a half mm

Re: Laser Alignment Problem
In your laser toolpaths include this in the HEADER section of the laser and standard post processors + Now apply a temporary 0.5mm offset for my laser alignment issue "G92.1" "G92 X-0.5Y0.5" In your non laser toolpaths include this line to reset the offset (you can also include this line in the FOOT...
