Re: Statue of Liberty

4" x 12" with 2 quick engrave tool paths. Wood is Red Oak and the beam diameter is 0.0075"

Toolpaths:
- Statue 4.2W @ 1000mm/min
- Flag 4.2W @ 1300mm/min

I'm going to speed up the flag to 1500mm/min next time to see if how much it speed up. I want it lighter

Re: Statue of Liberty

I just have Vcarve Pro and use the Quick Engrave toolpath with the J-Tech No-Z post processor. The only thing I think I'd ever need Lightburn for is to do photos. I have the J-Tech 4.2W Spindle Mount Laser The Photo-Vcarve in VcarvePro is not going to modulate the RPM (Laser Power) instead of depth....

Plenty of time in the shop with everything shutdown. This laser job took about an hour to do. I think I can optimize it more

Re: Shapeoko BitSetter

Over on the Carbide3D community site there is a lot of discussion of the Bitsetter. Neil Ferreri posted a set of post processors to use with the bit setter on Github (link below). You can find discussion of the workflow around using bit setter at the C3D site. Enjoy the new tool https://github.com/n...

Laser Module for Vcarve Pro availability

Is there a "Laser Module" that I can purchase for Vcarve Pro? I've seen references to it online and I'm interested.

Re: Post Processor for Shapeoko 3 help needed

Old versions of Carbide Motion only use the "nc" extension. Their new V5 which is very new supports "gcode" extension too.

I replied to your PM with some instructions.

Re: Shapeoko Post Processor not listed

They have GRBL post processors and pervious versions had a specific Shapeoko entry. I've modified "mm" versions I can share if you want them. They're easy to install and they work for me.

If you have a Bitsetter you can use the PP from NeilFerreri

Re: Beer Taps - Part 2

Fudge,,, Nice reference to a Christmas story...  I've been in contact with Jay and am about to pull the trigger. Can't wait to try it out on my tap handles. I'm recommend a V90 bit to start with. I tried a V60 to start with and it was too much. If you're going double sided I'd recommend ...

Re: Beer Taps - Part 2

Thanks for the info. A couple of more questions if you don't mind - How do you deal with fumes? How is the laser driver wired to your machine? And finally, are you using a Vectric post processor for the laser tool paths? Thanks, Mark Fumes - I'm only cutting wood and doing it in the garage (my shop...

Re: Beer Taps - Part 2

J-Tech Photonics 4.2W spindle mounted laser. Very nice work! What Z clearance do you need for this laser? Mark The laser assembly sits 1/8" above the workpiece being burned as it's focused 1/8" below the bottom of the protective shroud. I made a rough measurement for you and you'd need 85mm minimum...

Re: Beer Taps - Part 2

How long does it take to burn one of your taps? I batch cut my taps, 4 at a time, from a single 22" long 5/4" QSWO board. To burn the four taps on one side with the laser is taking me 1hr 35min currently for that toolpath. I'm going to speed that up as I'm limiting the speed to 700mm/min now. I can...
