Re: Best approach for cutting mortices inside rebates?

Hey Steven,

This looks great, thanks.

To make the mortises, did you just draw rectangles over the existing geometry (on a new layer), then add fillets?

Also, when you say 6mm, do you mean 1/4-inch (6.3mm)?

Re: Best approach for cutting mortices inside rebates?

Thanks Martin54, Here's the import vectors options I have - no 2D / 3D option there...? import vector options.PNG After importing vectors and un-grouping them, I can select things like this panel (not useful for this job, as that's not being cut): selecting a panel.PNG And this, the rebates (perfect...

Best approach for cutting mortices inside rebates?

Hey guys, Building a bookcase-like part from 18mm material. I have designed the shelves to sit in 9mm rebates, and added a 150mm-wide mortise-and-tenon to the centre of the shelf (images below illustrate this better than I can describe it in words!). whole unit.PNG top and side join.PNG shelf and si...

Re: Possible to make a guideline based on geometry?

@littlegreyman , for the record, I'm using Win10, a mouse and a keyboard. As @SteveNelson46 also pointed out, it was not clear to me that I needed to grab the part at a snapped point, for it to be able to snap the part to a guideline. That makes sense (and is really just like SketchUp!). Not sure w...

Re: Possible to make a guideline based on geometry?

Hey Adrian, While it's tempting to respond, "I'm not a &^(%$# idiot!", I think you're right, I am mis-understanding something. :) I tried this again (Moving a part, having it snap to a guide). It worked fine the first time! But the next 20 times, it just would not snap to the guideline. It snapped t...

Re: Possible to make a guideline based on geometry?

Hey guys, Thanks for the feedback. Judging by all the workarounds offered, it does not seem like it's possible to set a guideline based on existing geometry. Coming from Sketchup where I do that 13 times an hour, it's weird, but I expect I will adjust. IslaWW I had not tried that approach (circle in...

Possible to make a guideline based on geometry?

Hi I often have this problem. I import vectors from Sketchup. In V Carve pro, I want to add some additional geometry (in this specific example, I imported wardrobe doors, and I need to add pockets for cup hinges at precise locations inset from the edge of the cupboard doors). However, there does not...

Re: V9 Gadgets NOW AVAILABLE

Hey,

I'd like to use http://gadgets.vectric.com/circle_resize.html in V Carve Pro V9, but it says it only works with V8 and v8.5. Any chance of a gadget upgrade?

thanks
