Re: Network settings with Parallels - MacOS - M2 Mac?
With no suggestions from the forum, I continued to experiment and seek advice elsewhere... In case anyone else encounters this problem, I solved it by installing Chrome on the Windows side, and set it to be the default browser. Launching Aspire and clicking "Sign In..." launched Chrome, and after si...

Network settings with Parallels - MacOS - M2 Mac?
I just migrated to a new M2 MacBook Pro and I'm setting up Parallels Desktop for Mac (on Ventura 13.3.x). So far mostly good, except... Aspire 11.50x seems to be running fine. I was able to install all my extras, post processors, etc. The only thing I can't get working is the "Sign in...", so I can'...

Re: The Vectric UGM San Diego 2022 Extras Pack is available to purchase!🙌
I am looking specifically for the demo Edward did of the gecko / lizard, showing a bunch of new-ish sculpting features. I guess I should clarify... I see the videos that have been released, as mentioned above. But I'm wondering if the video of Edward's session, showing the sculpting and freehand on...

Re: The Vectric UGM San Diego 2022 Extras Pack is available to purchase!🙌
I also attended and was looking for videos form the meeting. Have they been released / posted anywhere yet? I am looking specifically for the demo Edward did of the gecko / lizard, showing a bunch of new-ish sculpting features. I was trying to explain to a friend (who hasn't upgraded yet) why the ne...

Re: Keyboard shortcut chart
I find that link to the Keys somewhat useful.... but I also find that I like a simple shorter print-out (instead of 63 pages): You can format this as you wish....or convert to pdf etc Slightly edited version of hooby's .xlsx file above, with translated text... If no one else has made progress, I ma...

Re: Keyboard shortcut chart
Ok, I'm reviving this thread since I'm just back from the 2022 UGM (fantastic meeting!!), and once again realizing I only use about 10% of the keyboard shortcuts. So... I went looking again to print out a simple "cheat sheet" of the keyboard shortcuts, maybe two-sided, that I can laminate and keep o...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
@scottp55 -- I just have to add... it took me a while to read through your whole Harley Saga Tiny , and of course one thing led to another, trying to follow all the links and threads on "Linwax" and your other concoctions... there are some very, very deep rabbit holes on this forum! Kiss my morning ...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
Wow, thanks Scott for replying, and for all the sage advice! Your comment about using “Demi”, and “bold” in the other thread, suggest a clever way to increase the space between the font vectors themselves, without having to do any manual vector fiddling. I’m going to study Franklin Gothic in particu...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
If your text is not being cut sharp at that size it is not the software has any weird fringe case. The software will generate nearly perfect sharp corners as can be seen in the 3D preview. The problem is trying to realize that perfectly sharp corner with imperfectly made tools. Get a 10x loupe an l...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
As has already been said 3mm text is getting into other ways of doing things such as laser engraving, screen or solvent/UV flatbed printing. ...but when the only tool you have is a CNC router, everything looks like a router toolpath. On these guitar pickguards I had to cut all the openings i...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
Except that the suggestion was to use the engraving bit as a flat clearing tool and not the “V” tool. The “V” tool would still be a v-bit and thus give sharp corners. That is a good issue to clarify, I read the flat tipped bit suggestion as applied to still using a two-bit setup in this case. A sha...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
I'll just say it again, at the risk of repeating myself, I have clearly stumbled into a very weird fringe special case due to the tiny 0.12" / 3mm text size, and trying to get the sharp corners of a particular font using a v-carve toolpath. Any of the rounded-style fonts (e.g. Comic Sans) would cert...

Re: tapered flute
I guess I've never separated in my mind the component from the material. Like I mentioned before I don't do much 3d so I have to relearn each time and whenever I find something that works (whether right or wrong) I'll run with it and move on. :D Amen to that! I also read a lot of these threads and ...

Re: V Carve ToolPath Cut Depth
If normal end mills are too large to mill the flat areas you could consider using an engraving bit (such as these ) as the flat tool. Keep using a v-bit as the tool to do the sloped edges (and the razor sharp points). The engraving bits range from a flat of 0.005" to 0.090" (metric sizes are availa...
