Re: How to change the start point on a profile cut.
Thanks, Guys. That is where the error was coming from. The Start depth had an N in it. I was also doing something wrong in editing a process. I would right click to edit one when they are all check marked. That meant it was showing both a rough and finishing tool path. That was a little confusing wh...

Re: How to change the start point on a profile cut.
This is what I get after manually placing a start point using N and P and then calculate.
I gotta say that the video did help a lot. I had not seen that one before or at least not recently.
At this point, it is just a puzzle to solve with curiosity being the driving factor.

Re: How to change the start point on a profile cut.
start points.jpg start points2.jpg Here are a couple images. It is only a minor thing, but if the router is less than perfect when doing profiles, you can see evidence of it. This was the case with my older router, but haven't noticed it with the new one yet. This is why I would rather place the st...

Re: How to change the start point on a profile cut.
I still cannot get this to work like i expect it to. It seems it will not overide the default start point, but create an additional start point at the node.
Not what I was expecting. Is there something else I am overlooking?

How to change the start point on a profile cut.
Hi guys. I haven't used Vcarve pro a lot, though I have had it since version 5. I have the current version installed and I am trying to change the start points. I am not having any luck using the N or P shortcuts. I can get it to change the node to green that way, but it reverts back to the original...

You were correct. That is what I was doing in the layer selection tab. Thanks for identifying my error.

Re: Issue with inputs being reset to zero when I select a la
They are imported DXF's. I wasn't aware that a 2D DXF could retain any depth data.
I will check that out though. That does make sense.

Re: Issue with inputs being reset to zero when I select a la
In specific, it zero's out the cut depth and then that of course effects the passes.

Issue with inputs being reset to zero when I select a layer
As the title states, I am having an issue where when I go through and select the depth, then the tool, on down to the bottom and then select the layer I need all that on, the previous inputs are reset to zero.
That cannot be the correct operation, right?

Re: Tubocad
Turbocad STL's import fine. The DXF's I tried had errors, but there are several types of DXF files. I didn't try them all. STL's work great though.

Re: Waterline cutting?
The other way I didn't mention is to extend the block size deeper and raise the part off the bottom by the amount of curve the ball nose has. Since it is a sacrificial block under it anyway, the extra cutting doesn't bother anything and cuts a smooth part.

Re: Waterline cutting?
Thanks for the info. The cutout page was wanting to only cutout the block of material from a larger block. I did hit on slicing the model myself and sliced it at .2", which worked fine for cutting the waterline then. I have figured out a couple work arounds. I can do a thin slice of the model in Tur...

Waterline cutting?
Is it possible to do a waterline cut to clean up a profile on a 3D part? I have split a 3D part in half and will be cutting the model from blocks. It is temporarily mounted on a sacrificial surface. First using an end mill for rough, then a ball nose for finish. This leaves a curved place at the bot...
