Re: Isolating a slice of a 3d model, converting it to a vect
Brady, Whoah, whoah, I'm definitely talking about using VCP and I'm very appreciative of your time and suggestions. There are two parts to my project. One is the 3D printed Yoda model. To get it ready to 3D print, I would be using other software and other software. The second part is a CNCd wooden s...

Re: Isolating a slice of a 3d model, converting it to a vect
@garylmast, you had it exactly right. I got it from Thingiverse and I do plan to shell it and put a hole in the bottom, just as you did. Now I just have to figure out how to do that in other software. It's my CAD of choice for now. I also try your other suggestion for how to make the vector. There a...

Isolating a slice of a 3d model, converting it to a vector.
Hi Everyone, I have a project in mind and I'm not quite sure how to accomplish a portion of it using VCarve Pro. I plan to 3D print this model of Yoda as the Buddha but print it hollow so I can put an LED light inside. I thought wood would be an appropriate base for it to sit on. With my CNC, I'd li...

Re: 3D assembly of traditional scallop quarterboard sign
Thanks for the replies, Jim and Martin. I watched and worked along with all the tutorials when I first got VCarve Pro and have had a lot of success in 2D and 2.5D cuts, but that was a over a year ago so I had to bone up on the 3D tutorials. Jim, I like the idea of doing it as an applied element. I'l...

3D assembly of traditional scallop quarterboard sign
Hi All, I'd like to make a traditional quarterboard sign (examples below) for a present and I'm having some trouble assembling the 3D components to make it. This is my first foray into the 3D side of VCarve Pro and I've watched the tutorials multiple times each but I'm still struggling. I was hoping...

Re: Had a good week...
Wow, those are just awesome, especially the steampunk one. I'm pretty new to CNC so I'm still getting a feel for feeds & speeds, tooling, etc. If you have time, I'm really interested in more details about these projects such as what machine you're using, feeds & speeds, and tooling. Even if you'd ra...
