Re: Rotate project and Flipping status changing

Thanks Adrian, that makes sense. I will have a look at fixing that 'Flip design' option. But in any case, that option has only any effect while in the Job Setup form and only if you change the job orientation. Normally you want to have that checked, so when you change orientation the job follows. Th...

Re: Rotate project and Flipping status changing

I'm not sure if I understand the bit about the flip. There is flip direction option on double-sided jobs, is that what you're referring to?

In general what you see in 2D/3D view is what you should get on the output. Are you swapping X & Y axis perhaps?

Re: Save default settings

John, it has the new V10.5 job templates but not toolpath templates.

Re: Save default settings

I’ve recently purchased VCarve Desktop 10.5 and want to use millimetres by default. I’ve searched the docs, the programme, this forum and used Google but I haven’t yet found out how I can set default startup settings. Presumably they are set somewhere. Is it possible to set default user settings (o...

So are there any other tools NOT YET USABLE but showing up as options?
No, only that one. It was added by mistake and will be removed in the future patch - sorry about confusion.
When we add actual features those are clearly announced (like Laser Module).

Re: Plasma tool in database

I have always used "endmill" as my plasma tools in the database. Eg, 1.5mm dia, 1mm depth of cut, speed 3000mm/min. This has worked fine for me. However there is a tool type called "Plasma Cutter" selectable in the database. I know I can be a bit slow but I can not make head or tail of it. What has...

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

Thanks Greg! This was very helpful. I had the Max burn rate set at my spindle speed of 12000 so I adjusted that to 500 for now and I'm getting previews that now represent what my percentages are. Another concern I have (which I replied to another post about already) is Z movement. Prior to purchasi...

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

I was editing the post processor last night before reading your post this morning and was able to get things working correctly. I kept the base openbuilds postp in the MypostP folder and then copied it 7 times and edited each post name to eg. "Openbuilds 25000 (inch) (.gcode)". 25000 represents the...

Re: Document Variables

FYI Document Variables don't work in the Laser Toolpath yet. I was trying to use one in the Power field to make my life easier. I submitted it to Vectric for the wish list. May I ask why would you like to use document variable in the power field, rather than leverage the tool database? For example ...

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

Greg, Should I try tape splitting the openbuilds post processor instead of the GRBL then? Do you think that might solve the issue? Do you need tape splitting when using openbuilds? If you were happy with how it worked when it was alone in MyPostP folder, then you can copy Grbl_inch.pp from PostP fo...

Re: Laser job preview and post processor drop down

I have 7 post processors that I use on a routine basis. They are all based off of the GRBL inch post processor but each with different tape splitting gcode amounts. The new laser post processor I'm trying to use is the openbuilds. When this post processor is in the MypostP folder alone it will disp...

To improve quality of the slope, you need to modify the pass depth of the tool.

Re: Laser module needs Z axis control added

The laser module works well, but one important thing missing (that i could do when i used to fake the laser by using a 0.011" endmil) is the ability to change the Z height for any laser tool path. I want to set Z 0 at the material surface for the tightest focal point, and then be able to specify a ...

Re: 3D Machining Depth Never Correct

If you look closer at the toolpath then you can notice that it stops when it reaches material boundaries. In order to machine your shape the tool have to go outside of your material boundaries. You need to make your material bigger, otherwise tool will not be allowed to machine whole model. Hope thi...

Re: Laser Module with Shapeoko

Absolutely correct. I sent my initial reply from my personal computer, not my shop computer. Here is the current Shapeoko inch pp file I am using. Sorry for my mistake and confusion!! Here is my .507 pp. That looks correct, but since this post-processor is inheriting Grbl_inch.pp we also need to se...
