Re: Long Lake Ranch
Well balanced layout, super execution. The texture and the "paint by number" look in the sky/clouds is cool.
Nice Work!

Tor,

Re: Carved & Painted Medex® Sign
Yes, the thinned varnish acts more like a sealer, after sealing the stain adheres well to the substrate.hdtheater wrote:Are you putting the varnish on before the stain? I use MEDEX as well, but never stained it.
Yours inspires me to want to try it.

Re: Carved & Painted Medex® Sign
Wow, that looks great. Thanks Gord! Also forgot to mention, when I use Medex® or Extira® for carved signs, after carving and sanding, I seal them with 3-4 coats using a mixture of a Urethane Spar Varnish & Thinner at a approx. ratio of 8:3. Letting each coat penetrate well before applying the next ...

Carved & Painted Medex® Sign
Here's a recent 24" x 24" x 1.5" sign that was designed in Aspire using a bitmap wood grain background. After it was routed I registered it in the laser to mark the totemic areas in the logo that were to be painted, then a 3 stage stain for the WG and solid colors for the text, then top coated with ...

Re: Paint then Carve then Light!
This customer liked the large sign we did they commissioned us to do a 30" dia. round lit sign for their entry way. Aspire CNC carved from 1.5" thick african mahogany, the nautilus is mounted on 2" stand offs, the low voltage LED lighting is inlayed in the back of the nautilus. Neal Stillpoint Entry...
