Re: More of my project

That gives an interesting look...are you going to leave it proud where/when you don't have to sand?

Thanks

down the engraving Rabbit hole...

OK...needed a small break from 3D and wood so I broke out the diamond drag bit for the 1st time and decided to try some engraving... I bought the Widget Works version and it came stock with the 120* tip...90* tip is on order. 1st up was the small Dragon medallion...used what little info I could find...

Re: Had a good week...

Wow, those are just awesome, especially the steampunk one. I'm pretty new to CNC so I'm still getting a feel for feeds & speeds, tooling, etc. If you have time, I'm really interested in more details about these projects such as what machine you're using, feeds & speeds, and tooling. Even if you'd r...

Re: Aluminium Fishing Mold

Hi, so I drive with the X and Y axis at 720 mm / min and with the Z axis at 520 mm / min. Speed is 15000 1 / min. I use the aluminum 5083. Mold milling time was 8 hours for both halves. Thanks for that...the info gives me a good place to start and your project gives me a good example of the quality...

Looks clean...a 3mm EM and a 2mm BN? That must have taken forever...mind sharing some details of the cut?

I'm just starting to experiment with aluminum and looking for all the hints/help I can get...Thanks

nice to know you can bake with these too ;-p

Shifting the learning curve over to HDPE and soft metals to explore what can be done with them... Little did I know you could bake pretty good looking large 6" oreo cookies with the AR8Pro+and VCP Pro 9... Grabbed a couple of scraps of 1/4" black and a 6x6 1/2" HDPE and using a dxf file from Buck4 (...

Had a good week...

Went heads down last week to get some things done for the kids/grandkids... They've been after me to show them some of the things I been doing on the new CNC the last month so I spent a few days making things for them... With them in Texas and us up in the PacNW all they've been getting is photos so...

Re: .stl Files

you have to have a new file open first then file>import>3d file...make the file larger dimensions than you think then resize after you get the file in...

next comes playing with resizing and that's where it starts to get fun...where/how to place it in the Z axis took me a few tries...

Re: Cutting air?...

Thanks Leo...more food for thought... On that particular model there isn't much fine detail and what is there isn't very deep...a 1/16th BN should be able to reach everywhere... The western broadleaf maple is in fact a softer variety but harder than the Spanish Cedar and looks much nicer than the Ea...
