Re: Open Builds Experience

Well, to be honest, I have not tested it yet. When I bought the machine I had to dismantle it to get it in my car. And as place in the shed is running low I have not assembled it (yet). I have read a ton of messages from forums about this machine and two things stand out: 1. The belt needs to be adj...

Re: Open Builds Experience

I am (slowly) re-building a 1510 that I bought second hand. I am replacing the wheels with linear rails. Inspiration from here https://openbuilds.com/builds/1510-workbee-modified.7967/ Mine is lead screw driven instead of the normal belt driven axis. I will ramp up this project in February next year...

Bird house

If you are in the shed, find some plywood, remember a picture on the Internet, have a CNC, own Aspire and want another bird house, you end up with this.

Gentlemans Valet Box - my version

A colleague I have worked with for 17 years retired from the company, As he is an avid boat guy I decided to do the Gentleman’s Valet Box for him. To make the box more personal I added his name to the front of the box and engraved a small text inside the box. The wood I used was teak and for the lid...

Re: Cryptex

Amazing. Doing a Cryptex is on my bucket list. I have the plans and I have transferred some of the plans to Aspire. Now I need to set aside some time to finish that. Mike, where did you get the plans? Phil I got them from a gentleman on Internet, he had done a Cryptex in steel and aluminum. I maile...

Re: text not in correct place in viewer

I just loaded the file into Mach3, and also noted the offset in that software. It might not be an issue, it might just the way the toolpath display in different previews. I

Re: text not in correct place in viewer

I just tested the file in UCCNC and I also noted the slight offset. So I did a rectangle around the material and used the same tool to do a pocket. I saved the two toolpaths into one and loaded that into UCCNC.. Now it looked OK. I then changed the material setup to have the XY datum set in center, ...
