Re: Thread Milling 1/4"bsp port for watercooling distro plate
You wrote "Using a 55 degree tool with that will allow you to create a thread, and male/female parts that match but it would be neither ISO standard nor BSP/Whitworth." It sounds as though the original poster needs the female rather than male thread. Perhaps I'm confused but my understanding is tha...

Re: Thread Milling 1/4"bsp port for watercooling distro plate
I just want to add a little more information to my post above. My post was about how to define the Datron thread mill in our tool database. Looking at the full discussion it seems that you want to create BSP threads so I should however point out that we currently only support the ISO / DIN 13 thread...

Re: Thread Milling 1/4"bsp port for watercooling distro plate
It looks like there may be some issues with the dimensions given in the Datron catalog because some of the values given do not appear to be mathematically possible. If we take a triangle of half the tooth height which is L2 or 0.7 and a tooth size which as Martin pointed out is half of D1-D3, so (6-...

Re: Tool path preview detail
Hi Ben, What you will be seeing here is an effect of the preview simulation quality. When the toolpath you are previewing takes up the full model (like when you made the new 3"x3" model) the preview there gets the full simulation resolution. If your toolpath is a smaller portion of the whole model s...

Re: Thumbnails in Explorer with OneDrive?
On my settings for OneDrive it is not called Files On Demand but is now something like "Let me use OneDrive to fetch any of my files on this PC". I do not need to fetch 3d models back and forth so that works great. It is possible we might be using slightly different versions of OneDrive, but "Let m...

Re: Thumbnails in Explorer with OneDrive?
Hi, Just adding a little bit of extra info here. The problem here is that in Windows 10 (following the Fall Creators update last year) Microsoft added the "Files-on-Demand" option to OneDrive and this is set on by default. With this mode the previews for the folder view are actually being generated ...

Re: Text Scaling Issue/Question
Hi Bobbie, I think this is probably due the text having been transformed at some point during the creation. If you removed that current text, then started some new text in a vector box, put 3" by 1" into the box and typed your text I imagine it will work as expected. The issue with the transform is ...

Re: Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL
Hi Rusty, Aspires Export to STL function has no preference for units, it just exports as whatever units the user has chosen to create the job in. This appears to be the same behaviour as Fusion. When you mentioned exporting to your slicer program from an inch model in Fusion, are you just saving the...

Re: Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL
Hi Rusty, STL files contain no units or scale, just raw X,Y,Z values. This means that it will be read in as whatever unit values the opening program is using and when exported Aspire will just put the raw values into the file. This is why when importing a STL model into Aspire there is the option to...

Re: Nesting within a larger piece.
You should be able to do this if you combine your outside vectors representing the material boundary into a single vector. Once you have this if you select all your letters and then add the boundary vector as the last selected item you should be able to check the Last vector is nest boundary option....

Re: STL image issues
Hi smik,
This was caused by a change in 9.516 to improve the preview drawing for flat planes. Unfortunately this is affecting the low z-range model you are using causing it to show the preview as if it were a flat plane. I've opened a bug report to look into this.
Thanks,
Stu

Re: Vector Selector - "Select Circles Matching..." not worki
Hi, just to confirm what you are seeing, there was an issue with the inch tolerances for circles in the vector selector which was fixed from v9.507 onwards. Any versions before this were using a fixed extra tolerance for circle detection that was much larger than it should have been for inches, whic...

Re: How do I do an accent over a letter?
You could also do this visually using the character map that should come with Windows. This will also let you see if the character you are looking for is supported by the font you plan on using. On Windows 10 for instance you can get to this by just typing "Character Map" in the search bar then runn...

Re: Just wondering why - for those with too much time
Hi Michael, What you are seeing here is a safety feature to try and stop the last pass cutting through a lot more material than the tool may be intended to cut through, we would normally only be expecting the last pass to cut a very thin amount of material away. In an example with the dimensions you...
