Re: V11 Installing 11.005 Patch

No issues here. I run McAfee antivirus. I did notice that in v 11.003 that the conversion from mm to in was not correct. I see that was fixed in 11.005. Vectric staff have created GREAT CAD programs and does an outstanding job fixing issues that may arise. There is no way they can anticipate every s...

Re: Aspire V11 is OUT NOW!

Opened Aspire and noticed Update to v 11.003 available. Went to web site, watched the video. WOW! Ordered and downloaded. Question: can I move all the clipart from the v10.5 directory to the new directory for v 11? The upgrade price of $400 USD is fair and reasonable considering all the new features...

Re: Modelling service

When you find a good picture you like try Jim Darles at legacycncdesigns.com. I commissioned him to create some 3d designs from jpg files I sent him.

Great work at what I thought was a fair and reasonable price. See attached pictures of two of the designs.

Re: Newbie seeking advice

I would suggest running the V-carve tool-path twice. I find it cleans up and better defines the carving and only adds a few minutes. Just imagine the time our forefathers spent hand carving something like this... I also use a dremel tool with 3M sanding disks to clean up the fuzzies. Then the real w...

Re: Aspire 10.514 strange pocket toolpath

Thank you so much Adrian. I did run the vector validator.
I will v carve the square and compass that sits proud of the small (3.4" sq) finished block. I plan to use these in the corners of a framed door for a shadow box for a Brother.

Stay safe. God Bless you and your family.

Aspire 10.514 strange pocket toolpath

In the attached file I want to pocket the area outside the square & compass. I have done this procedure many times on other projects (but not in the current version). No matter which order I select the vectors the inside of the S&C is also pocketed leaving a small ridge outlining the S&C. I used the...

+1 to everyone's comments on retirement! We all worked hard for years to get to this point. ENJOY. I make what I want, on my schedule.

Re: Odd behavior on Profile cut out

Thank you both. I assumed if I set it to cut on the outside, it would cut both vectors on the outside.

Stay safe,

Odd behavior on Profile cut out

Please see attached file. The Profile cutout toolpath cuts correctly on one side, but on the other I keep getting a slight dog leg. This can be seen in the Preview Toolpath. I created the lower vector first and then mirrored it vertically for the upper vector. I expected the cuts to be the same.... ...

Re: Cutting 2.5 inch hard maple

Thanks for replies everyone. I’m going with the straight router bit, 18K rpm and slow feed rate, long ramp, and many passes.... Considered 2-sided, but with such a large piece, I only want to deal with securing it to CNC one time. I started with a piece of 10/4 and had two surfaces planed.

I've had similar issues to the horizontal line in the scroll work. Definitely a Z axis issue, but in my case the hold down method. Need to be sure that the board stays perfectly flat on the table....

Be sure the software you use for machine control accepts automatic tool change and that you have it set for ATC. Check your post processor as well.

I love my ATC.

Cutting 2.5 inch hard maple

I have a plank of hard maple that is 2.5 inches thick. I am making a shaving horse. I need to cut 4 holes from 0.75" to 1" in diameter through this plank, as well as trim about 2/3rds of the plank from 10" wide to 7" wide. I am having trouble locating a spiral up cut bit that is 2.5" cutting length....
