Re: Outdoors: 15lb or 20lb Duna/Signfoam?

With an internal metal frame or a durable backer, you'd likely be fine with either 15 or 20 lb material; the latter can be better for finer detail if that's necessary.

Re: Run Aspire on Mac OS...

Thanks for producing that...I have no doubt it will be helpful to some folks who have concerns or want to know how to set things up! I've been doing it since the beginning of my CNC thing back in 2018.

Re: Aspire 12 and CNC on different computers

If you keep v11 on the "CNC machine" and use v12 to design and create the toolpaths, I believe that it would take away the ability to change the design in your shop if you needed to. Others will comment, but you would not be able to open a v12 .crv3d file on a a v11 machine. If you never have to do...

Re: Aspire 12 and CNC on different computers

I run Aspire on two machines...the Windows 10 machine that is my CNC controller in the shop so I can make edits and do quick jobs and an instance of Windows 10 running in Parallels on MacOS. All my design work is done in the house on the Mac platform and I transfer files via OneDrive to my shop whic...

Change your material setting so that the background provides more contrast to the toolpaths.

Re: V12 COMING APRIL 2024 🎉

I just downloaded my upgrade...'figured it was a good idea to grab it right away because of the "early buy" consideration pricing, rather than pay $50 more later. I'm looking forward to a few of the new features.

Re: Is there any hope for Linux users?

This thread mirrors the recent one that requested the same for MacOS which arguably has a larger likely audience for this kind of application, although at the heart, it stems from similar heritage of 'NIX. Those of us running Macs use virtualization to run Windows and Vectric's applications, althoug...

The subscription model has essentially nothing to do with the cross platform apps themselves, that's just a business model that these companies have chosen
I don't recall intimating that the two were linked because they are not. And I do agree that it's just a different business model.

Re: V12 for Mac Silicon, please?

Thanks, Edward, for chiming in from "the horse's mouth". I truly appreciate that there is an end goal to be supportive of being more OS independent, even if the ultimate time frame is long term.

Re: V12 for Mac Silicon, please?

I always find it interesting that we regularly see Mac users wanting Windows apps ported over to Apple equipment. Rarely do I see the opposite. Not sure what Apple does these days, but back in the day when I was developing, Arrogant Apple made it clear that no apps would run on their equipment unle...

Re: V12 for Mac Silicon, please?

But Vectric apps are not the only ones that Mac'ers have asked for, eventually all Microsoft apps went to browser based "subscription" offerings, as did Adobe, and a few other cad/cam solutions (that get removed when mentioned on this platform). All of these can only be accessed by subscription. Th...

Re: V12 for Mac Silicon, please?

Bootcamp does not exist on Apple Silicon Macs. Bootcamp relied upon the Intel architecture of the previous generations of Macs. Currently, the only way to run Windows on MacOS with Apple Silicon is via virtualization, such as with Parallels and the ARM version of Windows. (which is now thankfully su...

Re: Dash collection for a rotary indexer

Dust/chip collection from any form of lathe, including the ornamental indexer that is mounted on a CNC machine is a tough row to hoe. So in most cases, a two stage collector with a floor sweep plus a broom is pretty much what ends up being the solution. (never use a floor sweep with a single stage c...

Re: Vectric products for OSX and Linux?

VCarve 9.519 runs just fine on a mac using a VirtualBox Windows XP VM and that's good enough for me. V11, V10 also runs great on MacOS in a Windows VM in Parallels. Win10 is more stable for me than Win11 for this particular purpose. I suspect the same technique can be used for folks who favor Linux...
