Re: Rotary Machining
I've only played with the 4th axis a little but I believe the moulding tool path is going to be the best option to recreate a leg like that. I could be wrong as I don't have much experience with the 4th axis.

A version of Michael Tyler box pile, I let have all the fun of painting it. It was fun project. I used heavily spalted Poplar, which really seemed to help with aged look.

Try making friends with someone who owns a sawmill or look on FB or CL for sawmill scraps. A lot times these guy sell their scraps for dirt cheap. I have bought truck loads from them for under a $100. The last load I got was a mix of cedar, pine, ash and oak. All I could fit on my truck for $25 and...

Re: Routed Jewelry Box
Awesome design and project. First, keep in mind I am a newbie and I am limited to a Chinese 6040 machine. I really want to try this but I am a little confused on some parts and rather reluctant to think my wood is accurate in thickness, which would be extremely critical to the build. I see many fol...

Very nice. I'm going attempt one of these, it should be fun since only have a Piranha fx with a 12x12 bed. I'll be getting some much need practice at tiling.

I put a piece of wax paper between the "jaws" of the clip and then just epoxied it to the piece.creativescrollworks wrote:Gluing the clip to the bowtie, no longer able to open and close clip. How is it put on??
I shrunk it down and made hair clips, unfortunately my granddaughter swiped the before I got pics taken.

Those are beautiful. Thanks for sharing the files. Could tell which bits you used for the inside round over and petals tool paths? I think I've found the right one's, but I would like to know for sure before I buy them.

I don't know when you bought your software but if was in the last 12 months Vectric will give you a free upgrade. I don't think I've notice enough of a change to make the purchase myself. I would like to someday get Aspire but it's cost prohibitive for me, but someday I'll get it.

Depends on the look I'm after. If want a fancier look I use the V bit, for a plain jane look I use a 1/16" end mill

I haven't used that font myself, but when do V carved lettering I end up using the fluting tool path. I'm sure there's a better way to do it and someone that knows how will chime in.

In the first pic at the bottom it shows your home position for the Z axis is set to 1.5", you need change that. I set mine at .3". I keep having the same problem when I was carving thicker pieces. once I changed that it stopped.
