Re: Vectric products for OSX and Linux?
I moved my main machine to windows 10 several years ago. I like linux but an update knocked out my wifi and it took me days to get it working again. At the time my lead time was running 2 years and I really resented losing that three days. Then my motherboard went out and it was time for a whole new...

Re: V9 dragging a object
You have to hold alt instead of shift now. It's why I went back to 8.5.

You could just put in two and not worry about it.

Re: Alt & Shift Reversed
This is the change that pushed me back to 8.5. Alt-drag is not available in linux so the change just eliminated my ability to constrain drag, and that's not something I'm willing to do without. On the bright side I won't be spending any money on upgrades any more.

If I took that attitude I'd probably still be on 1.0.mikeacg wrote:Oh, don't worry - they're going to get my $400 but I'd like to learn everything about the last version before I give it to them!!!!

Re: V9 where are you????
Some companies used to ask for feed back and a wish list for new products. Does Vectric . I don't think I have ever seen any thing. Don They've posted a few times that if there are features people would like to see then send an email to support so they can put it on the list. There are many things ...

Re: Model thickness out of whack
This is true. I gave you an alternate method once it appeared you had rejected this method but replace below is the correct tool for the job. Your resistance to this is baffling. Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone and I do appreciate all advice I can get. I'm still trying to wrap my head around on...

Re: Model thickness out of whack
...Really, at this point I just need to know if there is an easy way to lower a component without scaling it at the same time. Just push it down, and discard everything that ends up under the XY plane. The Replace Below gadget is the best tool for that (as Michael M. mentioned earlier). Your method...

Re: Model thickness out of whack
Take the height below z (.0248 or .0282 depending on which one you're on) and put that in as base height, then bake it and check it again.

What is the actual measured size of the 1/4 endmill. Likely not exactly .250000.Bonch wrote:1/4 inch endmill. If you dont mind and have some time could you cut it out on a scrap and make sure it carves correctly. I hate to tear down the machine if it is something stupid I did in the design.

Re: The importance of starting
I totally agree with the learn as you go and in the great support that this and some other forums offer. Learning from mistakes is a natural process and if you actively do anything there will be some hiccups along the way; just hope none of them are the ones that will cause any personal injuries. T...

Re: Finger Joints With Rounded Fingers/Sockets
The smaller a ball nose you use the less of a fillet there is to worry about. If you don't mind what the inside of the corner looks like you can just run the moulding toolpath right up to the inner edge and let the ball nose go past to its tangent/center point. I've played a bit with using a v-bit ...

Make that 4 cents. I vote for Air Force blue too. Maybe AF blue for the emblem and black for the letters.dwilli9013 wrote:Nice work Walt Jordan is sure to be pleased.

Re: Text on a Curve Spacing Issues
Walt, Is this somewhat like what you had in mind. I simply convert the text to curves and then use the arrow keys to move in the x and y axis. Then for the particular letter go into node edit mode. the blue dot on the outside corner allows you to rotate the text. A bit tedious but it works. Wait, w...
