Re: Toolpath optimization

Thank you for the reply.
I looked for the mentioned grid but did not find it in the 8.5 pro version. Is that a newer feature?
The video link I posted gives a very good description and a variety of options.

Toolpath optimization

I use a laser to cut the outline of parts. I manually nest multiple parts on a panel in AutoCAD or similar programs. Then I use V-Carve Pro-8 to generate the G-code. The toolpath is not optimized at all so the laser spends a lot of time jumping around not cutting. Is there optimization available in ...

Re: No G00 to safe height before plunging at same location

I am still waiting too.
It might not be a problem routing wood but it currently is a tremendous waste of time when making deep pockets in metal with slow feeds.

Re: No G00 to safe height before plunging at same location

Thank you Adrian for a very fast reply.

This then looks like an excellent suggestion for a program improvement.
It basically would take two lines of code.

It makes a big time difference when very small cutters are used so many vertical passes must be used.

No G00 to safe height before plunging at same location

When making a pocket or other cut with multiple passes for depth, a G00 to safe height is issued before a slow G01 down to the next level. It is not needed when the X/Y coordinates do not change. It is very slow!! How can I force it to skip the G00 step? I am getting tired of manually keep removing ...

Current version?

I have been searching the website to find an official note about what is the current version of VCarve Pro. Mine says 6.091 and that no update is available but I saw comments about 6.1 in the forum. It would be helpful if the current version was shown on the download / upgrade page. What is the curr...

Installation

I had 5.5 installed, I upgraded to 6.0 and it has been working OK for many months. There was some confusion and mix up with files (my fault) so I uninstalled both versions to get a clean start. I verified that they were gone. I installed 6.0 again and it also created an extra folder and installed 5....

3D simulation accuracy

I might be doing something wrong, but I also saw posts about wrong pocket size and some comments that the simulated workpiece is intentionally made larger to simplify internal calculations. This is really DISAPPOINTING!. I trusted the program to provide an accurate simulation to allow me to verify i...

Re: upgrade approval

Thanks for all the help. Maybe it has to do with the US site. Here is from the original upgrade notice: Please download the product via: [private link removed] Now I get a message that the upgrade is not available. Last week, I am pretty sure I got a box saying to submit the email and address to Vec...

upgrade approval

I sent in my order # and key info a few days ago to Vectric support to upgrade my VCarve Pro 5.0 to 5.5 but I have not received a response. Maybe my email was deleted by a spam filter since usually the support is very good. How shall I proceed?
Thanks in advance,

How to edit properties

I must be missing something obvious: When I create for example, a circle there is a creation box with X/Y location and diameter that can be used for accurate placement and size. How can I get back that box to check or modify the circle afterward? It is such an obvious way to edit the placed item but...

Re: Leveling cut?

Remember, the goal is not to cut a pocket, it is to clear off a workpiece with minimum wasted time. Here is the best answer that I have figured out: Cut to the corner of the workpiece with the outside edge of the cutter following the work edge. That leaves an uncut corner piece. Move at 45 degrees t...

Re: Leveling cut?

Thanks Dan,
That looks like a clever idea.
I am used to working in AutoCAD & Leading edge and I keep forgetting about the drawing capabilities in V-Carve.
Thanks again,
Bertho
