Re: array copy problem
You are correct Leo in that if I group the finished array, tilt it, move it where I need it and then ungroup it for toolpathing it will be correct. When you tilt the array, even though it is correct, I get an optical illusion of it being distorted because the teardrops point toward an imaginary oval...

Re: array copy problem
I guess I have solved my problem good enough to get by. Instead of tilting the oval, I tilted the model. It is not perfect because the teardrops point to an imaginary oval at the center instead of the center "point".

Re: array copy problem
I got that part alright Sharkcutup. But when I tilt it 15° or so, the teardrops do not point directly toward the center. This is a two sided bas relief of a wolf. I wish to cut out a oval so that a Native American friend of mine can make a dream catcher in the center. The teardrops vectors are to V-...

Re: array copy problem
Exactly like that, only on an oval whose axis is not quite vertical.

array copy problem
Screenshot (338).png I am trying to copy an array of teardrop vectors along an oval with the points of the teardrops pointing toward the center of an oval. The template teardrop does point correctly but the copies do not. The little circles on the outer oval are thru holes and I'd like the teardrop...

Re: Mach3 strange behavior
Thanks ger21. I figured it out just before I logged in to make this post. You were spot on. I have created two other profiles with this copy of Mach and did not run into this issue. My next move was going to be to switch to UCCNC so again, spot on. At least I bought some time before making the switc...

Re: Mach3 strange behavior
I did a little experimenting in MDI and the problem is apparent in MDI as well. After I confirmed that the movements in MDI were about 100 times the requested amount, I brought up the GUI pendant and the movements were correct; ask for 0.001 and get 0.001 inches. Tomorrow I will mount a dial indicat...

Re: Mach3 strange behavior
My apologies. I am using a UC300ETH mounted on a C94 board from CNC4PC. I am using the Mach 3/4 Arcs (inch) post which is what I have been using for about 9 years now. I have made no changes to Mach and the motor tuning units seem to be close enough, ask for 0.100 and a dial indicator shows 0.100, t...

Re: Live Edge Cribbage Board
I have to agree that that is one beautiful piece of wood. I believe it would have made and awesome guitar body.

Mach3 strange behavior
I'm hoping someone here has heard of this or knows who to ask. I built a new control system for my machine using a UCCNC C94 motion controller. Got it all put together and it plays nice with Mach3 until I load G code. Up until the point that I load a program into Mach movements are as expected with ...

Re: Creating CNC tool path from a STL file
A while back I designed a set of 1911 grip panels in VC Desktop. I used tool paths entirely within the program, no stl. needed. The result is a basic smooth grip panel onto which you can project any design or stl.; Rampant Colt for example. The design has one anomaly I couldn't resolve. Because the ...

Re: Can this be done.
If your spindle motor is two pole, and it most likely is, it will not run for sustained periods of time at less than 6000 rpm. Below that, the amperage picks up quite quickly. Machining aluminum usually requires using coolant as well. Also, be advised that there are cutter geometries that are specif...

Re: Spring loaded engraver??
I have the Canadian made CNC-aid and I like it. Like Martin54, I don't use it a lot but I have not had any trouble with run-out so far. I do dial indicate all my tools at the spindle to within 0.001 T.I.R. or less if I can get it. The nice part about this particular set is the variety of springs tha...

Re: corrupted gcode editor
Problem solved! Mach3 has a Restore Settings feature under the Operator tab. It saves the last 21 programs and their associated Mach3 settings so naturally I went back 34  . I loaded one of the moulding tool paths and it worked. What made it particularly frustrating is that I had my grandson, ...

Re: corrupted gcode editor
The project was developed completely within VCarve, but I do know what you mean by all those unneeded nodes with imports. Dealguy, there is no G61 at all but there is are two G90 commands at the beginning of the program. I believe that would cause the machine to run in absolute positioning mode. I e...
