Lubricating the screws and runners
I noticed a little squeaking today when I fired up my Next Wave Piranha. I hadn't considered oiling the machine but that sure makes sense after as many hours as I have been running this puppy. Any tips on how and what to use to get the job done right? BTW... I want to thank everyone that has contrib...

3D Model showing up 180 to the project plain
If I said this right , I have an odd happening. I bought a model and tried to import it into Vcarve desktop. It came up like the others except that it is 180 degrees out of alignment to the project plain. I see three circles around the project plain but no matter how I try I can't seem to get it to ...

3D Problem
I'm trying to carve out an eagles head into a circle about 3" in diameter. I review the rough and there is a flat spot on the top middle of the cut. I add the preview of the finish cut and the flat spot is still there in preview...?? I have set the model position in material to 0.1232 but the flat s...

Re: Best way to set depth of cut
Additionally, I would like to make deeper cuts in general. So... what would be the best approach in regard to "settings". I understand that the model is probably "set" at a certain cut depth overall, but I was more or less referring to getting a bit deeper overall. how do I set a deeper cut in a mod...

Best way to set depth of cut
I don't seem to get the depth of cut I'm wanting. I'm doing 3d flags and other intricate cuts, but I'm not figuring out the best depth for the project. Some are much deeper than others. Is that because the model has a depth setting to begin with ? I use the modeling tab and the "Material setup" to s...

end mill or ball nose?
I have typically been using the ball nose bits to carve out the 3d stuff but I used and end mill on one and it came out pretty nice. Anybody have any advice on which one for any particular 3d projects? I'm doing a lot of eagles and flags right now... so detail is important....

I knew I had done something ignorant for it not to work like it has for so long.... Thank you Steve, you're a blessing.

Preview speed not showing
I CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHY I CAN'T SET THE SPEED OF THE PREVIEW. THE SLIDER IS NOT WORKING. IT JUST FINISHES THE CUT IN ONE INSTANT. i HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SET THE SPEED OF THE PREVIEW TO SEE HOW MANY PASSES IT MAKES ON THE ROUGH OR WHERE THE BIT GOES DURING THE CUT... ETC. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO ACTIV...

Sharpening Bits
Is there a good way to sharpen old cnc bits? I have several bull nose bits that have dulled over time (on the tips) but they still look good higher up on the bit shaft. I see bit sharpener tools and machines but I donb't see how they could do a very good job on bits like 1/16th or even 1/8th.

cnc bits
I would like some opinions about 3d carving bits. Should I use a ball nose or an end mill? .... I see some tutorials choosing both bits and I never thought much about it until now. Right now I'm doing some wavy flags and I'm using an 1/8 " ball nose for a rough pass and aa 1/16th ball nose for the F...

3D Carving Time
Hello again. I am a little perplexed at the moment. I read the "estimated" time for a project but invariably, it turns out to be twice the estimate. Any suggestions on why this keeps happening? I have the feed rate and the plunge rate set to 100/ 80 but I must be missing something fairly simple. Tha...

Bit is rising kinda high from function to function
I designed a simple project and noticed that the bit would raise up quite a bit between functions. Where do I go to set it to not rise up so much?

3D Issue
Hello again.... I imported an stl file and began the process of lining everything up but it didn't go as expected. The model ended up being very tall and very thin. I unchecked the lock xyz ratio and set the values at 8.0 for Y and Z and.75 for the X. The model instantly went to a very thin, very t...
